Liverpool's Slot is favourite to leave next

After Liverpool's defeat to Bournemouth a dramatic move in the Betfair Sportsbook market on the next Premier League manager to leave saw Arne Slot go odds-on...

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is the odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job after the Reds' 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth continued their disappointing second season under the Dutchman.

Slot is 4/71.57 to become the seventh English top flight boss of 2025/26 to head for the exit.

We knew he was under pressure but it is still surprising to see him rated more likely to go than Tottenham's Thomas Frank 6/42.50 - who saw his team draw 2-2 at Burnley - or come-sack-me Oliver Glasner 7/18.00 of Crystal Palace.

West Ham's Nuno Espirito Santo, meanwhile, looked like he was facing the abyss a few weeks ago but, following consecutive wins for the east London team, is 25/126.00.

These market moves underline the boom and bust nature of Premier League management, but what are the possible factors in the plunge in Slot's price?

Defeat leaves Slot odds-on to leave Liverpool

Liverpool's likeable manager was all smiles last season, steering the Reds to the Premier League title at the first attempt. It was his first season in English football and his if-it-aint-broke-don't-fix-it approach to succeeding Jurgen Klopp was perfect.

But things have soured at Anfield in 2025/26. The season is far from a disaster - the club are still in the FA Cup and performing well in the Champions League -  but Saturday's defeat means they are without a win in five league games (L1D4).

That run has seen the Reds slipped to sixth in the table and out to 5/42.25 to finish the season in the top four.

Their focus now shifts to Wednesday's Champions League match at home to Qarabag on Wednesday.

Slot's men have reserved some of their most convincing performance this season for Europe's top club competition and could yet turn out to be value at 9/110.00 in the outright winner betting.

After that it is Newcastle at home in the Premier League on Saturday evening - a tricky fixture, which has often produced drama, but one Slot needs his team to win.
