It's been a topsy-turvy week for our Kev, but he hopes to sign off in style with a winner from Argentina.
"Velez Sarsfield are finishing the season strongly, and have won their last four games."
Velez Sarsfield v Argentinos Juniors
Monday 14 May, 00:00
A French folly for us last night, as our boys Dijon took an early lead at Lille, but slipped to a 2-1 defeat. It occurs to me that during my study for French A-level, I didn't learn enough swear words.
We'll wrap up the week in Argentina, because the Superliga season is speeding towards its conclusion, and we've got an intriguing match to check out between Velez Sarsfield and Argentinos Juniors. The visitors can still make the Copa Sudamericana places, so there's plenty to play for.
Velez have been on the charge of late, winning their last four league matches. They have put together an eight-match unbeaten run, and they have averaged two goals per game in that spell. It's also worth considering that they haven't lost a home match since mid-February.
Argentinos Juniors are three points better off than tonight's opponents, but their form is a little more wobbly, with just one win from the last four Superliga outings. Their road record is poor, with six defeats in the last nine away games in the league.
Velez have in-form attacking players in Mauro Zarate and Matias Vargas, and they have momentum. Former Real Madrid and Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze is doing a fine coaching job, and I'll back him to secure another win here, albeit with a bot of insurance using the Draw No Bet market.
