"At full strength, Tottenham would be the better of the two, but team news may marginally favour Rennes when the line-ups are announced shortly before kick-off."

Rennes v Tottenham: Well-matched rivals set to share the points

Rennes were the surprise winners of Ligue 1 last season but, under new management, they're struggling as Spurs prepare to face them in one of Thursday evening's early matches in the Europa Conference League.

James Eastham says: "Nuno Espirito Santo's team crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon and that meek performance has raised questions about Spurs' chances of picking up points from their opening Europa Conference group game in north-west France...

"Rennes also lost at the weekend, slumping 2-0 at home to Reims on Sunday afternoon. After the game manager Bruno Genesio - appointed in March this year - described it as his side's worst performance since he took the job and was scathing about his players' lack of energy and motivation.

"Rennes are 2.8615/8 to win, with Tottenham 2.546/4 and The Draw 3.259/4. As the outsider of the three, The Draw is the most appealing ahead of a game between two sides that look likely to be well-matched on the night.

"At full strength, Tottenham would be the better of the two, but team news may marginally favour Rennes when the line-ups are announced shortly before kick-off."

James's bet: Back Rennes v Tottenham Draw @ 3.259/4

Dinamo Zagreb v West Ham: Defences to dominate in Croatian clash

Dinamo Zagreb v West Ham

Live on BT Sport 2

David Moyes takes his Hammers on a Europa League adventure to the Croatian league leaders and it could be a night when the defenders come out on top.

Kevin Hatchard says: "West Ham simply don't have experience at this level, and while I can't see them losing this, I'm not sure I can get hugely excited by their price of 2.285/4 in the Match Odds market. A trip to Zagreb isn't the intimidating prospect it once was, but Dinamo are still an experienced outfit that is used to winning.

"You could use the Sportsbook's Bet Builder (see offer below) to back a combination of Under 3.5 Goals and West Ham/Draw at 1.768/11. That way, you win if it's 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 to West Ham, or if the game ends 0-0 or 1-1.

"Croatian journalists who follow Dinamo seem to think they'll adopt a safety-first approach here, and I like the look of backing No in the Both Teams To Score market at 2.26/5. That bet has paid out in six of Dinamo's eight European games this season (they played a lot of UCL qualifiers), and it paid out in four of their last six UEL matches."

Kevin's bet: Back No in the Both Teams To Score market at 2.26/5

Real Betis v Celtic: Tough opener for poor travellers

Real Betis v Celtic

Live on BT Sport

Celtic warmed up for this match with a home win over Ross County but they were made to work hard for the points by a very ordinary opponent. The Bhoys will need to step it up a gear in Spain on Thursday.

Frank Monkhouse says: "Celtic shouldn't attract too much attention in the match winner market at odds of 4.94/1, with the draw available at 4.03/1. Given the club's lack of flair in attack at the weekend, under 2.5 goals in this match will do a job in your accumulators at 1.9620/21.

"Betis have made a slow start to their La Liga campaign, picking up just two of the first nine points that have been available to them. In their first two matches, the locals drew 1-1 against Mallorca and Cadiz before sinking to a 1-0 home defeat against Real Madrid. It was a quick turnaround for Betis after playing Granada away from home on Monday while Celtic were on Saturday.

"The home win is 1.748/11 on the Betfair exchange. That looks like a bet worth having as they enjoy the home advantage and meet an opponent in a poor run of form, especially on the road in Europe. Back Real Betis to get off to a winning start."

Frank's bet: Back Real Betis to beat Celtic @ 1.748/11

Bayer Leverkusen v Ferencvaros: Bedlam at the BayArena

Kevin is our Europa League specialist so next up he recommends bets for four ties that might have slipped under your radar beginning with a clash between a rising Bundesliga force and the Hungarian champions.

Kevin says: "Bayer Leverkusen's excellent start to the Bundesliga hit the skids at the weekend, as they were beaten 4-3 in a thriller against Borussia Dortmund. Die Werkself led three times, only for the Erling Haaland-inspired visitors to snatch victory in a classic. Despite that result, it's been an encouraging start for Bayer under new coach Gerardo Seoane.

"French international winger Moussa Diaby has been in electrifying form so far, Patrik Schick has carried on where he left off at EURO 2020, and golden boy Florian Wirtz is a remarkable performer considering he's just 18. In defence, centre-back Odilon Kossounou has settled in well, mitigating the loss of Edmond Tapsoba to injury.

"Ferencvaros missed out on back-to-back Champions League campaigns as they lost to Young Boys, going down 3-2 at home and losing on the road by the same scoreline. The Hungarian champions have been rattling in goals, but a 2-1 home defeat to league leaders Kisvarda suggests they might not have things all their own way this season."

Kevin's bet: Back Both Teams To Score in Bayer Leverkusen v Ferencvaros at 2.245/4

Leicester City v Napoli: Under-par Foxes to be frustrated

Leicester City v Napoli

Live on BT Sport Digital

Leicester need to bounce back from last weekend's defeat to Man City as they face formidable opponents in the Europa League.

Kevin Hatchard says: "Given their modest start to the campaign and the quality of the opposition, I can't get on board with backing Leicester in the Match Odds market at 2.255/4. They are defending poorly, and there are too many players who haven't quite settled down yet.

"Napoli are full of confidence and should field a fairly strong side. We can back the visitors +0 & +0.5 on the Asian Handicap here at 1.9620/21. A draw sees us secure a half-win, while a Napoli victory gives us a full payout at nearly evens.

"Despite Leicester's poor attacking process so far, I do fancy goals in this one. The Foxes look shaky at the back without Fofana, while Napoli had some self-inflicted moments of panic against Juventus. Napoli have seen both teams score in all three of their games so far, and I can see why BTTS is available at 1.625/8, and Over 2.5 Goals in 1.774/5."

Kevin's bet: Back Napoli +0 & +0.5 on the Asian Handicap at 1.9620/21

Rangers v Lyon: Draw would suit both sides at Ibrox

Rangers v Lyon
20:00
Live on BT Sport

The Scottish champions are finding their momentum in the league but they will be tested when they host Lyon.

Frank Monkhouse says: "Rangers and Lyon meet for the third time in competitive action when clashing at Ibrox Park in Group A. The sides have already served up two memorable matches in the 2007 Champions League, with the head-to-head at one victory each. Gers won 3-0 in France before their opponents returned the favour in Glasgow. Will this renewal fall into line and provide us with another thriller?

"Scottish champions Rangers were disappointed at missing out on Champions League involvement to Malmo, but Steven Gerrard's side has responded in style. They came through a tricky qualifier to make it to the group stages of this competition and are sitting back on top of the Premiership with a win over Celtic already under their belt.

"The boys in blue warmed up for this group opener with a 2-1 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Saturday and had to come from behind to do it. Rangers conceded the first goal but had Kemar Roofe and captain James Tavernier to thank for turning defeat into victory. The home win on Thursday is 2.77/4 with the draw 3.412/5. The latter is a result that would suit both teams before kick-off."

Frank's bet: Back the Draw in Rangers v Lyon @ 3.412/5
