There's an intriguing clash in France tonight, and Kev thinks he's found an odds-against winner.
"Marseille have recently been well beaten at Lille and Lyon, and Montpellier are unbeaten in ten league matches."
Marseille to suffer another road defeat
Montpellier v Marseille
Sunday 04 November, 20:00
PSV Eindhoven extended their perfect start to the Eredivisie season last night, but sadly for us the victory over Vitesse wasn't as emphatic as we needed it to be. An early red card for the visitors shut the game down to some extent, and it only finished 1-0.
We'll look to repair that damage with a winner in France tonight. Montpellier take a ten-game unbeaten run in the league into tonight's clash with Marseille, and I believe they'll extend that streak.
Given the fact that Montpellier lost full-backs Jerome Roussillon and Nordie Mukiele to Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig respectively, and that Isaac Mbenza moved to Huddersfield Town, coach Michel Der Zakarian has done terrifically well. The 2012 Ligue 1 champions are currently third, after winning six and drawing four of their last ten league matches. A surprise 3-0 home defeat to Nantes in midweek in the Coupe de la Ligue was unwelcome, but shouldn't do any lasting damage.
Marseille are three points behind Montpellier, and have had a bad fortnight. A limp 2-0 defeat in Le Classique against old foes PSG followed a potentially costly 3-1 defeat against Lazio in the Europa League.
Marseille have recently lost 3-0 at Lille and 4-2 at Lyon, and they have won just one of their last four road matches in all competitions. In five of their last six away games, they have conceded multiple goals.
With Wigan Athletic alumnus Andy Delort in excellent form (he has scored in each of the last five league games), I think Montpellier can do some damage to a leaky Marseille defence that's lacking confidence. I'll back the hosts Draw No Bet at 2.08.
