Europa League Betting: Inter favourites to go all the way ahead of semi-finals

Inter Milan are the new favourites to win the Europa League ahead of the semi-finals which will take place on Sunday and Monday.

The Italian side have shortened to 2.789/5 on the Betfair Exchange since coming through their quarter-final against Bayer Leverkusen last Monday.

Inter have overtaken long-time favourites Manchester United who are out to 3.211/5.

The Red Devils looked tired in their quarter-final against Copenhagen and only won in extra-time thanks to a Brundo Fernandes penalty.

Sevilla will be serious test for United

Next up for United is Sevilla on Sunday. The Spanish side, who finished fourth in La Liga this term, outplayed Wolves in their quarter-final and should be formidable opponents for United.

United are 2.6413/8 favourites to beat Sevilla 3.185/40 but, as those odds indicate, there is very little in it. Last time the teams met was in the Champions League round of 16 in 2018 when Sevilla knocked out United.

There is a growing sense that United are feeling the effects of their long season. Betfair Ambassador Dimitar Berbatov discussed this in his column this week, pointing out that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has largely relied on the same players since the campaign resumed in June.

Inter play Shakhtar Donetsk in Monday's semi-final. Antonio Conte's men are firm favourites at 1.784/5 to beat the Ukrainian side in 90 minutes.

Former-United striker Romelu Lukaku scored his 31st of the season for the Nerazzuri since he swapped Manchester for Milan last August.

The possibility that the Belgian could come back to bite United in Germany was not lost on Berbatov who said: "Lukaku would love the chance to bang in some goals against the team that let him go."

First, though, United have the smaller matter of a formidable Sevilla side to get past on Sunday.
