Euro 2024: Second favs France the most backed to lift trophy

• Over a quarter of all bets on Euro 24 are on France

• England the next most backed team ahead of hosts Germany

• Less than 1% of all bets placed are on Scotland

Punters favouring Les Bleus

France are the nation being backed the most on Betfair to win this summer's Euro 2024 tournament.

The 15/4 second favourites accounted for 26.8% of all bets placed in the tournament Winner market by the close of play on Tuesday 14 May.

Didier Deschamps' men will be looking to win the European Championships for the third time in their history after lifting the trophy in 1984 and 2000, and they will commence their Group D campaign against Poland on 16 June.

Les Bleus will also face Netherland and Austria in the round robin stage, and they can be backed at 8/151.53 to top their group.

Three Lions still popular among bettors

England are the second most backed team with 22.7% of all bets placed being on Gareth Southgate's men.

The Three Lions are the 3/14.00 favourites to win Euro 24 thanks in large to having some of the world's best, and most in-form players in their squad, including Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.

England, runner-up at the last European Championships, commence their tournament on 16 June against Serbia before facing Denmark four days later and Slovenia on 25 June.

Southgate's men are strong favourites at 3/101.30 to finish top of Group C.

Hosts popular but no so the Scots

Tournament hosts Germany account for 14.35% of all bets placed, meaning they are the third most backed team, though Scotland account for just 0.9% of all bets to win Euro 24.

Germany kick-off the tournament on 14 June against Scotland in the Allianz Arena, Munich, and they can be backed at 5/16.00 to go all the way and lift the trophy. Scotland are considered outsiders at 125/1126.00.
