Dimitar Berbatov Says:

Leg 1: Back Man City to win

Leg 2: Back BTTS

Leg 3: Back Rodri to score

I get the feeling City will beat Liverpool the champions have more qualiyu. Liverpool have more cracks in their defence than City, so because of this, City will win.

City have so much quality in their squad, even in great teams there are one or two players who make the biggest difference. Erling Haaland is of them for City. The way he scores goals, he bullies the opposition, so at this moment, every defence will be shaking at the prospect of facing him.

If Haaland doesn't play, it'll be a big relief for Liverpool, but at the same time, City have so much quality. Guardiola will relish a moment like this, where he is challenged by Haaland's possible injury, and in need of answers in difficult situations. He loves those moments.

I'm not surprised by Liverpool's strong start to the season. Jurgen Klopp and Mo Salah know what it takes to succeed in the Premier League. Darwin Nunez is scoring goals as well. Even though some of their key players left in the summer, Klopp knows exactly what to do. What I said about Guardiola goes for Klopp. He's relishes a challenge and loves finding solutions to problems.

At the moment, Liverpool are getting points and going under the radar. I'm tempted to say a draw, but I think City will edge it.

There are so many key players on both sides. I always expect City's stars to perform in the biggest games. Haaland will if he plays. Then there is Julian Alvarez and Rodri, the guy who moves everything for City.

Salah leads from the front for the Reds. Nunez scores important goals but sometimes he misses opportunities, so he needs to work on his finishing. That said, he did score three times for Uruguay during the break.

There must be goals in this game with all that attacking talent. Haaland will of course be amongst it if he plays, but I'd go for Rodri to score. He is the conductor for City. He commands everything. He pops up in situations where he's needed in the big games to score, as he did in the Champions League final.

Joe Dyer Says

Leg 1: Back Liverpool Double Chance

Leg 2: Back over 2.5 goals

Leg 3: Back Salah to score or assist

Berba makes some nice picks but I have to oppose them. My first selection if Liverpool or Draw with the Double Chance. I think Jurgen Klopp's men have it in them to take something from their trip to the Etihad.

I agree with Berba that we will see goals in this one. So I am backing over 2.5 goals. That set us up for a bit of a classic on Saturday lunchtime.

If Liverpool are going to take something from this match then they will need a key player to do the business for them. Mo Salah is the man and he is my final selection in this Bet Builder Battle.

I am going to back the Egyptian to score or assist.
