Magpies face Dortmund for first time

St James' Park will have to go some to replicate the atmosphere from Newcastle's thrilling Champions League return victory over PSG.

It's a first ever game against Borussia Dortmund for the Magpies, who are unbeaten in five games against German opposition and top this group after hammering PSG.

Dortmund have lost six away games on the spin against English teams, conceding at least two goals each time, and with Newcastle banging in the goals recently that could spell trouble.

Further problems for Edin Terzic's side come in front of goal, as they've not scored yet in this group so have now gone three Champions League games without a goal.

Overall, though Dortmund have only lost once this season - at PSG - so they'll offer Newcastle a genuine test even if the hosts are 4/71.57 favourites to win.

Stalemate could be on the cards

Although Newcastle have outscored Dortmund 4-0 so far, the underlying stats tell a different story with BVB have 14 more shots than the Premier League side.

You have to credit Eddie Howe's side for being clinical as they've got the second-highest shot conversion rate in the Champions League - getting their four goals despite having the lowest xG and fewest touches in the opposition box in the competition.

Their finishing rate is tough to maintain though, so the 3/14.00 on the draw may not be the worst shout here - Dortmund would probably take it from a tough fixture while it wouldn't do Newcastle too much harm.

Big goalscorer Bet Builder double

Anthony Gordon will be flying all over St James' Park as he usually does in these big games, and he could have some joy against Dortmund.

Gordon is third on the team in terms of both goals and shots on target, and with all eyes likely on Isak and Wilson perhaps Gordon is the man to back.

He's certainly a good price at 21/103.10 anytime scorer for Gordon and as Newcastle's third option he looks the one to back.

For Dortmund, Julian Brandt is a big price at 6/17.00 anytime scorer given he's their to scorer with four and also has five assists to show he's always likely to be involved.

Brandt has scored in his last two Dortmund appearances so will arrive in form, and even if he doesn't start he's likely to get a goal in there's one to be had.

Back Gordon and Brandt to score anytime @ 20/121.00
