Listen to Football...Only Bettor Champions League special

For one Notebook only, it's time to try and land a little double delight across two sporting worlds on Wednesday. It would be rude not to sniff out a winner at the Cheltenham Festival, something I've been beavering away at for many years before football betting well and truly took over as my sole focus about five years ago.

With the roar of Cheltenham in the afternoon and a tempting football angle waiting later that evening in the Champions League, let's see if a cross-sport double can yield us a winner.

Brown Advisory Novices' Chase, Cheltenham 14:00 - Back Wendigo for a top three finish @ 9/52.80

Experience is this race is so crucial when trying to find a horse to run well.

Racing over Cheltenham's gruelling three-mile track is such a stern test for a novice and lightly raced horses with flashy profiles can be overbet in this contest. Backing horses with multiple runs under their belt usually is the way to play this race as 15 of the last 16 winners had between six and 13 runs in total over fences and hurdles.

Wendigo has had nine runs in that regard with some top-class form behind The New Lion in last year's Challow Hurdle at Newbury as good a bit of form as any of these.

Jamie Snowden's charge has established himself as arguably the best three-mile novice chaser in the UK this season with a thorough staying performance to finish an unlucky third at Kempton over Christmas - he ran with huge credit that day and can do better yet granted a stiffer test.

Form from that Kauto Star Chase at Kempton has been overturned before at Cheltenham with the stiffer track playing more to the strengths to those who were caught for a bit of toe on the flat track. Everything looks in Wendigo's favour to run a huge race and rates as a fantastic wager to hit the frame.

PSG vs Chelsea, 20:00, - Back Joao Pedro to score anytime @ 21/103.10

This could be a very high scoring aggregate score over the two legs.

Liam Rosenior's experience of managing in Ligue 1 makes him a major positive here -  he faced PSG three times when Strasbourg boss and his team managed to score seven times in three fixtures against the current Champions League holders. And now he's facing them with a higher standard of players who know they can beat PSG after what they did in the Club World Cup.

Rosenior has been at Chelsea for 15 games now and their total goals per game average is at 3.8 as the numbers and the eye test tell us this Chelsea team are looking to play open and expansive football. We saw that at Aston Villa where they were frightening in attack, putting on one of the best attacking performances I've seen from a team this season.

Rosenior is doing a fine job at allowing his attacking players to showcase their talents, Joao Pedro especially.

He's scored 11 goals in 11 games under Rosenior, averaging a goal every 78 minutes - so producing a ratio that is better than a goal a game.

And even on the eye test Joao Pedro is a different player under this manager. His movement, his intent and his confidence has all increased but what has remained is the quality of his finishing. He's getting into better positions to score now and he's the finisher in a team that plays very attack-minded football.
