Timeform's Trainerform: Good times role for Dunlop, Cumani and Vaughan

No time for losers this week as Timeform take a close look at three trainers for whom things are definitely on the up...

John Dunlop had enjoyed only eight winners this year up until Goodwood Maestro was victorious on the 21st May. That success was the start of a fine fortnight for the Arundel trainer, who has had seven winners from his last twenty-four runners (29%). Palavicini was his most notable winner, the son of Giant's Causeway claiming a listed race at Newmarket in good style. Mudaaraah was also an eye-catcher when winning a maiden at Folkestone on her debut, travelling well and just having to be pushed out in a manner which suggested better things to come.

Luca Cumani made the headlines with Presvis's global exploits in the early part of this season but now he is starting to really get going in Britain. The yard has shown distinct signs of life in the last fortnight and has recorded successes with, the Greek Freak, Ialysos in a listed race at Haydock Park and Cima De Triomphe in a Group 3 at Sandown. In total, the Italian trainer has had six winners, ridden by five different jockeys, from his last 22 runners at a strike rate of 27%. The most notable success for the near future, however, may turn out to be the victory of Riggins. Frankie Dettori guided the lightly-raced five-year-old to triumph at Goodwood and prove his well-being prior to a crack at the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

Tim Vaughan again looks a NH trainer to follow during the summer. He has had five winners from sixteen runners (31%) in the past 14 days and has struck up a notorious relationship with Richard Johnson. The pair have recorded eight winners from 22 runners since the beginning of the new National Hunt campaign.
