Tuesday Racing Tips: Timeform's three to back at Pontefract and Wolverhampton

14:48, Pontefract - According To Mark the one to beat

This looks a potential match between According To Mark and Alma Latina but Timeform ratings strongly point in the direction of the former, who is rated 7lb higher.

He made an encouraging start over a mile at Newcastle on his sole start last year where he showed clear signs of greenness and he took a big step forward on his return upped to a mile and a quarter at Redcar recently.

According To Mark attracted support and showed significant improvement, only just losing out in a tight finish while still looking rough around the edges. The stiffer finish at this track should play to his strengths and, likely to be sharper both mentally and physically for that outing, he's taken to go one place better with further progress in the offing - he has the Timeform small p attached to his rating.

16:18, Pontefract - Egotistical open to further progress

Egotistical showed only modest form on her debut at Southwell in December, but she has shown much improved form this season, and now looks one to follow.

The form of her first two starts back at Newcastle and Nottingham worked out well and she proved better than ever when opening her account at Redcar at the end of April.

She was comfortably on top of the favourite on that occasion, produced to lead over two furlongs out and just driven out to maintain her advantage. The handicapper has seemingly taken a lenient view of that form and, the least exposed in this field - she's the only runner with the Timeform small p attached to her rating - she's strongly fancied to defy an opening mark of 71.

20:00, Wolverhampton - Zoulette stands out on ratings

Zoulette didn't show much in her first four starts, but she was much shorter in. the betting, and duly showed improved form on her second start in handicaps when runner-up at Leicester last week.

She appreciated the return to seven furlongs with the hood discarded and was liberated by a switch to more forceful riding tactics, pulling clear of the remainder but just unlucky to bump into one who took an even bigger step forward.

Billy Loughnane once again takes the ride, which is a positive, and she looks very well treated able to race from a 1lb lower mark now. Indeed, she's at least 5lb clear on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, and a similar performance - she could get an easy lead - should be enough to see her go one place better.
