15:48, Nottingham - Back Safe Harbor to go one better

Safe Harbor showed promise in three quick runs on the all-weather towards the end of last year and she was well backed for her return and handicap debut at Southwell in April.

She looked a little rusty on that occasion, though, and showed the benefit of that run when improving in first-time cheekpieces at Newmarket last time.

Safe Harbour found just one too strong that day, but she did finish in front of a next time out winner, so the form has a solid look to it, and she won't need to progress much further to open her account.

16:18, Nottingham - Back Kasgani to build on eyecatching stable debut

Kasgani was a fairly useful maiden for Dermot Weld in Ireland last season and he shaped really well on his debut for these connections when finishing third over this course and distance in April.

He was quickly dropped in rear from the widest stall, travelling well into proceedings in the straight but having no room two furlongs out. His jockey switched him out for a run entering the final furlong and he stayed on well, just never able to get on terms with the two who finished in front of him.

Kasgani received the Horse In Focus Flag following that performance and the other horse from that race, who met trouble, has won readily since. He is bred to be much better than this level and still looks well treated despite a 3lb rise.

19:10, Ripon - Barley ready to end a losing run

Barley's losing run stretches back almost two years, but he's been given a big chance by the handicapper, and he appears to be coming to the boil nicely.

He's progressed with each run since returning in April, and he was arguably unlucky not to win dropped into a 0-70 handicap at Hamilton last week, travelling like the best horse at the weights but conceding first run on the winner.

Barley was ridden in contrasting fashion to the winner, arguably given too much to do in a slowly-run race where the winner made all of the running, and his performance can be upgraded further when taking sectionals into account.

He was also given the Horse In Focus Flag, so he is clearly a horse to be interested in, and is fancied to gain some compensation turned out quickly from the same mark.
