Timeform take a close look at a trio of horses from which the best is yet to come...
Victoria Montoya is a stayer to keep on side through 2009. She was an impressive winner on her reappearance at Newmarket on the 16th May, stretching clear of Record Breaker, who is on a good mark himself. It appears that some of the temperament issues that were impeding her progress last year have been ironed out over the winter. She is proven on polytrack and good to firm ground and looks as though she'll be at least as effective over further. A valuable prize could come her way at some point. A.M.Balding
Aqwaal completed a hat-trick in the Aon London Gold Cup at Newbury on the 16th May. The winning margin was only narrow but he impressed as being some way ahead of his handicap mark. The race was not ran to suit as he was forced to race wide with no cover, but travelling powerfully he made great strides to reel in the eventual runner-up. He appears to be rapidly progressing and connections will be looking at Royal Ascot next. E.A.L.Dunlop
Riggins was a well backed favourite for a warm handicap at Newmarket on the 16th May but suffered no luck in running. After missing the break he was blocked off several times and finished with plenty left. He is likely to stay further and has to be given another chance to progress. L.M.Cumani
