Seta looked an exciting prospect when pulling clear to win a seven-furlong maiden at Newmarket on Saturday. Luca Cumani's filly was backed into favouritism against Dyna Waltz, who set a reasonable standard on the basis of her third at Newmarket last time, and couldn't have justified it in much better style. She cruised into contention with two furlongs left to travel and powered away up the hill to win by eight lengths. Entered in the Fillies Mile, Seta could take in the Prestige Stakes en-route, and has already been placed at the head of the 1,000 Guineas ante-post market, where she currently trades at [10.0].

Do The Strand caught the eye when winning an interesting ten-furlong maiden at Doncaster on Saturday. The half-brother to Top Level, a winner at the same trip, relished the test of stamina produced by soft conditions and battled on gamely inside the final furlong to hold off Troopingthecolour. These two finished seven lengths clear of Deportment, a certain improver. Do The Strand has shown consistent improvement this term and is firmly expected to keep that up in handicaps next, especially as he is upped in trip and his stamina is called upon all the more.

At Hamilton on Saturday, Impressible clocked up her fifth success of the campaign when winning a five-furlong handicap. Eric Alston's three-year-old travelled strongly towards the front of the field and quickly opened a clear gap when asked to quicken a furlong out, winning by four-and-a-half lengths from the favourite Requisite. This performance was proof that Impressible isn't reliant on a sharp track and, in running to a useful level (performance backed up a good timefigure), she looks all set to make her presence felt in better handicaps from now on.
