Manchester City were brought back down to earth for a second time this week after Wigan touched [3.45] on Betfair en-route to beating them 2-1 at the JJB Stadium.
Following on from their midweek Carling Cup exit, Mark Hughes' side had most of the ball in the second-half but couldn't do anything about the 2-1 lead that Wigan took into the break; the final scoreline was matched at a high of 14.5. The win has eased Wigan on the relegation market where they are now [8.6] for the drop.
Earlier in the day, Portsmouth beat Spurs 2-0 at Fratton Park and it was the former White Hart Lane favourite Jermaine Defoe who opened the scoring, a 7.0 shot to do so. Pompey only ever touched [2.9] on the match odds market but the scoreline was matched at odds of [17.0]. Having been matched earlier on in the season at odds of just [1.5] for a top 6 finish after big money summer signings such as Modric, Giovani and Bentley, Spurs are now available at [6.6] in the same market.
