As you open the first door of your advent calendar read our guide to festive betting with everything you need to know about markets on a white Christmas, the Xmas number one and Strictly special...
Christmas is a great time for sport with a crucial period in the Premier League season, the Ashes series getting underway on 8 December, the PDC Darts Championship starting a week later and a cracking Boxing Day racing schedule headlined by the King George Chase.
Snow has swept through parts of Britain in recent days, causing havoc and, in one case, confining people to a pub with an Oasis tribute band (insert Cigarettes and Alcohol gag here). Once again, Britons are dreaming of a white Christmas (or, more likely, dreading the inconvenience it would involve in reality).
Technically, there was one in the UK in 2017 when when 11% of British weather stations reported snow falling on 25 December. But the last widespread white Christmas in the UK was in 2010.
The odds indicate that for the vast majority of areas in the UK, it's unlikely to happen this year. The chances increase the further north you go. According to the odds, Aberdeen is the shortest price of anywhere to have a White Christmas 11/4.
Christmas Number One
The Christmas number one is another festive favourite and this year we have an odds-on front-runner in LadBaby who previously achieved three number ones and raised money for charity in the process.
LadBaby is likely to go up against Elton John and Ed Sheeran 10/11, The Have A Word Pod 6/1, Adele 12/1 and, of course, Mariah Carey, although the American diva is 20/1 this year.
Strictly Christmas Special
Strictly still has three weeks to run and, with five contestants still chasing the glitterball, you can get tips before every Saturday show from our specials betting expert Rob Furber.
Once the final concludes on 18 December, however, you only have to wait one week for the Christmas Special.
So far popstar Anne-Marie has been an early favourite, with TV presenters Jay Blades and Fred Sirieix in the mix alongside for Bake Off star Mel Giedroyc and newsreader Moira Stewart. The celebs will be paired with professional dancers and each couple will take on a Christmas inspired routine.
The judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas will be there to score each performance and the studio audience will score the performances.
And a superb season of sport...
Of course, Christmas is a great time for sport with a crucial period in the Premier League season, the Ashes series getting underway on 8 December, the PDC Darts Championship starting a week later and a cracking Boxing Day racing schedule headlined by the King George Chase.
