The Republicans will take control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in tonight's US Midterm elections, according to the latest betting on the Betfair Exchange.
American voters go to the polls today in an election that could make the next two years very difficult for president Joe Biden. If the Democrats lose control of both houses Biden will struggle to pass his legislation.
On Tuesday morning the Republicans were 1.454/9 to win a majority in the Senate. They were 1.071/14 to win a majority in the House of Representatives.
Yesterday Paul Krishnamurty reported that some key races were tightening, in the Democrats' favour, but today the Betfair Exchange markets are confident that the Republicans will win control of both chambers.

Biden pleads with voters to stick with Dems
Biden spent last night rallying with fellow Democrats and urging voters to put their faith in his party for the next two years.
He argued that, with control of the House of Representatives, Republicans would dismantle Americans' rights and social welfare.
The betting indicates that his pleas fell on deaf ears and the electorate looks set to hand control to the Republicans.
GOP 2024 favourites with or without Trump
The Republicans 1.75/7 are the favourites to win the 2024 US presidential election.
Biden is 8.07/1 and doubts remain about whether the 79-year-old will run for a second term.
Last week, ex-president Donald Trump indicated that he would run for the White House in two years.
Trump is the 3.3512/5 favourite to be America's next president after losing to Biden in 2020.
Trump is 1.774/5 to be be the Republican nominee and could formally announce his candidacy directly after the midterms
Ron De Santis, the controversial governor of Florida, is his nearest rival and is 3.953/1to get the Republican nomination.
