Biden receving support on the Betfair Exchange

Trump drifting but still favourite

Tim Scott 5/16.00 fav to be Trump's running mate
Joe Biden shortened to 2.486/4 on the Betfair Exchange as punters backed the US president to win a second term in November's election.
Donald Trump is still the election favourite at 2.245/4 but Biden has enjoyed the momentum since both candidates sealed their respective parties' nominations last month.
Republican candidate Trump is trying to win his own second term as president by making a sensational return the White House four years after he lost the 2020 election.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who is running as an independent candidate, is 29.028/1 on the Exchange.
On 16 March, when Betting.Betfair politics expert Paul Krishnamurty asked if the race was starting to swing Biden's way, the current president was 2.8415/8 on the Exchange.
Biden's odds have continued to shorten to their current price while Trump, who briefly went odds-on, has drifted.
Trump drifts but is still favourite
Yesterday, both candidates won primaries including the battle ground state of Wisconsin.
Polls from six swing states published today showed Trump still leading Biden but bettors appear to believe that the Democratic candidate can close the gap between himself and his Republican rival before election day on 5 November.
Trump is yet to choose his running-mate, and prospective vice president, but South Carolina senator Tim Scott 6.25/1 is the favourite in an open market where Tusli Gabbard comes next at 6.86/1.
Meanwhile, Trump's legal problems continue. Last week, a judge issued a gag order to stop the former president from attacking potential witnesses and others involved in his pending hush-money trial.
This is just one of the trials that the presidential candidate, who was beaten by Biden in 2020, could face before Americans go to the polls in the autumn.
