Horse Racing Betting

Horse racing betting is available across a wide range of meetings around the world. The most popular betting events are in the UK where there is racing on most days of the year, apart from a few days prior to Christmas Day.

Irish racing is also commonly punted on as a lot of trainers and jockeys are well known to everyday backers

In terms of other European and worldwide action, interest increases across the big meetings through the year, including the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in France and the Breeders' Cup in the United States.

There a number of different ways you can bet on horse racing. A win bet is the most common. This is where you place a stake on a horse to come first in the race. If it wins, you will be paid out at the starting price of the runner, unless you have agreed to take odds before the contest went off. In this instance, if your horse finishes anywhere else but first, you will lose.

Each-way betting is slightly different. This consists of two parts to your bet. You have the win and the place part. The addition of the place ensures that if your selection makes the frame, you will get paid out. These place terms vary depending on the number of runners in the race and what classification it is.

In horse racing betting there are lots of ante-post markets usually available. These are where big races are priced up in advance of the day of the contest. People choose to bet on this if they believe the price on offer will be bigger than their selection on the day. The down side to ante-post betting is that if your runner does not take part, in most cases you will lose your stake.

Multiple bets are also very popular in horse racing betting. There are a range of different types of bets available, including Lucky 15, Yankee, Canadian and Heinz. Depending on the number of selections you are betting on, these tend to include doubles, trebles, and an accumulator.

Some of the other well-known bets in racing are placepots and jackpots. These are pools in which the dividend paid out depends on the turnover at the meeting and how many people have successfully got the bet up. The jackpot requires you to have six winners at the selected meeting, while with the placepot you only need six placed horses.
