Horse Racing Tips: Katie Midwinter's best bets on Tuesday including 25/1 Carlisle fancy

Four-year-old gelding Perfidia could put in a bold bid from a mark of 62 under 3lb claiming Cian Horgan in this mile apprentice handicap. He's 5lb higher than his last winning mark but has been able to perform well from a similar rating in the past and has enjoyed a generally consistent season to date bar a couple of below par efforts.

Upped in trip when last seen, he struggled to settle in the early stages and couldn't sustain a challenge late on, but, back over shorter distance here, should be seen to better effect.

A likeable performer on his day, the Tim Easterby-trained contender could be worth keeping onside considering his recent run of form over a mile up to a 1m1f. He already has two wins to his name this year and could add another.

Another Tim Easterby-trained runner to consider on the card at Carlisle is Valentine Catcher, who could put in a threatening effort under James Sullivan in the 6f sprint handicap.

The five-year-old son of Bated Breath is currently rated 19lb lower than his last winning mark, although he did finish first at Pontefract last year when rated 72 before being demoted to second on that occasion. He has run well this season from a mark of 64 and, having dropped considerably in the weights over the past couple of years, could be able to make the frame, well treated at the weights at the best of his form.

Whilst Valentine Catcher hasn't been seen to his best in his latest couple of runs, he's capable of better and has some course form having finished third to Glorious Kitty here in May. He chased home Diamont Katie earlier in the term at Pontefract, beaten only by a filly who has boosted the form since, finishing ahead of the reopposing Great, a subsequent dual winner.

Course-and-distance winner Jackson Street is back on his last winning mark of 52 and was recently only narrowly denied here from a 1lb higher mark. He returned to form when last seen having failed to pose a serious threat in his previous few appearances, and, from a workable mark, should be able to build on that effort with another creditable run.

The five-year-old gelding is making his 40th appearance in this contest, bidding for a third career win, and has plenty of course experience in his favour. In the hands of Seamus Cronin, Jackson Street should put in a bold bid and could be worth keeping onside.

Lingfield, 17:00 - Back King David E/W @ 10/111.00

Top weight King David warrants each-way consideration under 7lb claiming Toby Moore, who has a decent record in apprentice races.

The Gay Kelleway-trained contender is winless since September 2024 when recording the sole success of his career to date, but is 13lb lower rated currently and has put in a number of competitive efforts over the past year to make the frame. 

King David is 11lb lower than when beaten only a length-and-a-quarter in third by Eligible at Southwell in December, and has since performed well on his return to that venue as well as when beaten a neck by Sandition at Chelmsford.

From a lenient rating currently, the son of Exceed And Excel may be worth keeping the faith in. His latest run is worth forgiving and he could fare much better this time around, making each-way appeal at the weights.

Bet of the day: Hamilton, 19:00 - Back Point Of Contact @ 6/17.00

Point Of Contact is 3lb higher than when winning a 16-runner handicap as the 2/13.00 favourite on the Knavesmire in June, but could be capable of showing further progression, still relatively unexposed making only his 11th career start. He has held his own in deep waters previously, performing consistently well in big field handicaps last summer, including when fifth to Fifth Column at the Ebor Festival, and there could be more to come from him.

Although he wasn't seen to best effect at Sandown in his latest start last month, the son of Blue Point may be worth forgiving a poor showing that day and could bounce back to form in this drop in class. He's back down in trip too over a distance he's proven, and makes appeal under PJ McDonald for Andrew Balding, who has an all-time strike-rated of 30 percent at the track and has saddled two winners and a second from three runners there this year.

Equipped with first-time cheekpieces in an attempt to return to the winners' enclosure, Bated Breath filly Seeing Stars could bounce back following a below par effort at Doncaster when last seen. That run is worth putting a line through as it was the first time she has failed to finish in the top four in her races, having previously recorded form figures of 2221343.

Usually consistent, the three-year-old filly often gives a good account of herself during her races and has made the frame from a higher mark this season. She's a likeable filly and remains open to further progression in only her ninth start for William Knight.
