Top weight St Denis's Well could put in a competitive performance in his return to action following a 186-day break for Ian Patrick Donoghue. From a mark of 114 under 7lb claiming Caragh Monaghan, he holds a solid each-way chance and could pose a threat if ready on reappearance.

The eight-year-old gelding has run well and won when fresh in the past and placed second following a shorter break at Navan earlier this year from a 2lb lower mark. He's one to note and could pose a threat in his 34th start as he bids for a seventh career win.

Course-and-distance winner Golden Brown didn't get the run of things at Chester when last seen but had previously performed with credit when third to First Legion at Ascot in his penultimate start, improving on his return to action at Salisbury in August.

A mark of 79 could prove workable for a largely unexposed horse who has shown a good level of form in the past. He shaped with promise as a juvenile last year with a number of creditable efforts including a close second to Ardisia in Listed company, and got off the mark earlier this season with success at this venue.

There could be more to come from the three-year-old son of Galileo Gold, who should be able to pose a threat from his current mark and could be able to progress further in future for Ed Walker, running in the hands of 3lb claimer Ashley Lewis here.

Another course-and-distance winner to consider on Thursday is likeable mare Max Of Stars at Southwell. She finished second at Sedgefield when last seen, beaten only a length-and-a-quarter in a three-runner contest, improving on her previous run over hurdles at Newton Abbot.

From a mark of 112, the daughter of Cloth Of Stars should put in a bold bid if at her best, holding solid claims should she get into a good rhythm under Brian Hughes. She's currently 3lb below her last winning mark and could make a return to the winners' enclosure for Ollie Pears.

Six-year-old gelding Pigeon House is currently 9lb lower than his last winning handicap mark in the hands of 5lb claiming Beau Morgan, and he proved he still retains ability when a close second to Ip Up at Market Rasen during the summer. 

His latest run at Stratford was a decent effort and, although further improvement is required, he could make the frame on a going day for Charles and Adam Pogson. It could be worth keeping the faith in the chestnut contender, who is one to note each-way at a double-figure price.

In the extended mile-and-a-half handicap finale at Bellewstown, experienced mare You Make Me Smile could pose a threat in her 41st career start. She returns on the Flat following a couple of efforts over hurdles, including when third at Sligo in her penultimate start, and, from a mark of 55 under Darragh Keenan, possesses a solid chance at the weights if at her best.

Currently 2lb lower than when chasing home Desert Friend in a 14-runner handicap during the spring, 1lb below her third-placed effort behind Prom Queen at Gowran Park, the eight-year-old mare has shown she can be competitive and place from a higher rating this year and could land her first win of the season.

Equipped with first-time cheekpieces, John Mackie-trained Society Kiss could find a resurgence in form following a couple of below par efforts. Under Clifford Lee, this could be a feasible opportunity for her to at least be competitive, in calmer waters than when last seen.

In her latest outing, the three-year-old filly lined up in hugely competitive 24-runner Ayr Bronze Cup, finishing down the field at odds of 50/151.00. She hadn't been at her best in her prior appearance at Kempton either, but had put in two threatening efforts earlier in the year at Southwell and Windsor respectively, including in a higher class handicap when second to Regal Envoy.

Still unexposed, the lightly-raced daughter of A'Ali should have more to give and holds solid claims from her current rating if returning to form.
