Glorious Goodwood is an annual meeting in horse racing on the flat calendar. It takes place in either late July or early August at the Goodwood racecourse.

The five-day meeting includes two of the 31 Group Ones in the UK. The Sussex Stakes and the Nassau Stakes are the highlights as they carry the top status.
The feature race on day one of Glorious Goodwood is the Group Two Lennox Stakes. This is open to three-year olds and above and is run over 7f. Previous winners of the contest include Paco Boy and Strong Suit. The most prolific horse in the history of this race is Nayyir, who scored in 2002 and 2003 for trainer Gerard Butler.
On day two, the Group One Sussex Stakes takes places for three-year olds and above over one mile. It has been running since 1841 and only Frankel has won it more than once.
Trainer Sir Henry Cecil landed the Sussex Stakes on seven occasions, with his first success coming in 1975 with Bolkonski.
Day three at Glorious Goodwood features two Group Twos. The Richmond Stakes is a six furlong sprint for colts and geldings. It was named after the Duke of Richmond and has been a regular on the schedule since 1877. The winner of this race often goes on to compete in the 2000 Guineas the following season at Newmarket.
The Goodwood Cup is the second Group Two on the Thursday of the summer meeting. It takes place over the distance of two miles and usually attracts the best stayers in the country. Double Trigger holds the record for the most wins as he won this race in 1995, 1997 and 1998.
On the Friday of Glorious Goodwood, the highlight is the Group Two King George Stakes over 5f. This sprint contest was established in 1911 to commemorate the coronation of King George V. Some of the best sprinters from around the world travel to Goodwood for this race.
Finally, the closing day of the meeting takes place on the Saturday and includes the Group One Nassau Stakes. It is part of the British Champions Series for fillies and mares and is run over the middle distance of 1m2f.
