Maritimo and Rio Ave delivered the goals that Tobias craved yesterday, and he completed the week in profit. We'll look to maintain that momentum in Italy, because Udinese are up against a Sampdoria side sliding towards relegation, and I'm expecting a comfortable home win.

Sampdoria is one of Italian football's iconic clubs, but this has been a nightmare season on and off the pitch. The Genoa-based side is in serious financial difficulty, with owner Massimo Ferrero being urged by fans (and even players) to sell up. With mounting debts, there is a possibility that the 1992 European Cup finalists could be kicked out of the top three divisions entirely.

On the field, Samp have been disastrous. They have won just three league games all season, they have the joint-worst defensive record in the division, and they have scored a league-low 20 goals. Marco Giampaolo's return as coach was a failure, and his replacement Dejan Stankovic hasn't been able to arrest the decline. Samp have won just once in their last 17 top-division matches.

Udinese are safe in mid-table, but they show no signs of heading for the beach, especially at home. Andrea Sottil's side have had impressive recent home victories against Milan and Cremonese, and over the course of the season they have upended Roma and Inter at the Dacia Arena.

Sampdoria have lost six of their last eight on the road, and four of those losses were by multiple-goal margins. Morale has sunk because of the state of the club, and I can't see anything but a solid home win. I'll back Udinese -1.0 on the Asian Handicap at 1.9520/21.
