World Cup qualifying gets under way across Europe today but Tobias Gourlay's only got eyes for Slovenia as they host neighbours Croatia
Slovenia v Croatia
Wednesday 19:45 (Live on Sky Sports Red Button)
The Mariners rocked the boat in Barrow last night. Grimsby left town with a rare away win, leaving nothing for us.
We turn to international football today. The first round of matches in European qualifying for next year's World Cup brings a couple of local rivals face to face. Croatia head across the border into Slovenia in Group H this evening and we fancy both teams can land blows on each other.
Odds-on favourites Croatia have won 3/3 competitive games in Ljubljana since 1995, but they've not been having everything their own way recently. Going back to a 1-1 draw in Wales in late 2019, both teams have scored in all of Croatia's last 11 games (friendlies and competitive). Over 2.5 Goals has been the right bet in 10/10 since that Wales match.
Outsiders Slovenia's last outing was another Balkans derby that brought a 2-1 Nations League home win over Kosovo. In Euro and World Cup qualifiers since late 2012, they've found the back of the net in 18/20. Croatia might be a cut above a lot of those opponents, but we're not convinced the visitors will have everything their own way this evening. At a generous odds-against price, we'll take both teams to score.
