It was all a bit of a damp squib for us in Madrid last night, as Jude Bellingham was rested by Carlo Ancelotti for what turned out to be a 2-0 win over Las Palmas. We move on with the bet voided and no harm done.
Undeterred, we'll pick out another goalscorer bet in Spain, because Atletico Madrid are visiting Osasuna, and I fancy Alvaro Morata to keep riding the wave of his club's Madrid derby success.
Morata scored a pair of headers in a 3-1 win over Real Madrid, and produced one of his best ever displays in an Atletico shirt. Given that he was a boyhood fan of Los Colchoneros, it was clearly a performance that meant a lot to him.
Spanish international Morata, who scored a hat-trick for his country recently in a 7-1 win in Georgia, has already got five goals for Atleti this season. He's not the only Atleti player excelling - Samuel Lino produced a superb display down the left against Real Madrid, and Antoine Griezmann has arguably been the best player in La Liga throughout 2023.
Osasuna have collected just seven points from six matches, and they recently lost 2-1 at home to Barcelona and then went down 3-2 at Getafe. Last season's Copa del Rey finalists have lost three of their six league games.
Morata has always been a confidence player, and he will rarely be as confident as he is after the weekend's virtuoso display. I'll happily back him to score here at a hefty 2.89/5. I'm a bit burnt by what happened last night, so if Morata doesn't start back Griezmann (two goals scored in the league) at 3.211/5.
