Casemiro: High foul count for Manchester United

A 7/1 Bet Builder is the order of the day when Manchester United host Crystal Palace on Saturday, according to our football props column.

  • Casemiro & Schlupp in foul chart's top 8

  • Richards good value for 1+ shot

  • Back Bet Builder at north of 7/1

Two of the Premier League's top foulers are set to be on show in this game so that looks a good place to start Saturday's Bet Builder.

Only two players in the top flight have committed more fouls than Jeffrey Schlupp with the Palace man having played in a deeper-lying midfield role this season.

That foul count indicates this isn't really his natural game and he's hit the 2+ mark in 12 of his 17 games this season.

The presence of Casemiro in the midfield will surely only add to the sense of real battle and the Brazilian has been clocking up the fouls of late with 2+ landed in seven of his last nine United starts. Over the past week he's twice managed three fouls in a game.

With both men also in the top eight on the fouls-per-game metric, I'll back both for 2+ fouls.

For a bit more value, I'm keen to add Chris Richards for 1+ shot - that's a 13/8 shot as a single.

Given the absence of Joachim Andersen, the 6ft 2in centre-back will be a major target from set-plays.

He's managed a shot in all three starts so far for Palace, while if you go back to the end of last season and his days at Hoffenheim, you find he's now landed this bet in nine of his last 12 club starts.

OK, the danger is Palace - who have won just once in their last nine - find themselves on the back foot too much and fail to create those set-piece opportunities.

However, I'm still prepared to play, primarily because United have not been great defending set-plays - Opta data shows only two sides have conceded more shots from set-piece scenarios so far this season.

The three legs create a price north of 7/1, while those after something bigger may do well to add Marcus Rashford to score at any time, something he's managed in nine of 12 appearances since returning from the World Cup.

Add that in and the price rises to around 20/1.
