Friday Football Tips: Digging out the cards value in La Liga

• Sobrino 10 cards in 23 starts

• Maffeo 1+ foul in 8 of last 11

• Back two-legged Bet Builder at around 5/1

Friday's game in La Liga involves the division's most-carded team - Mallorca - and another in the top five of that list.

Referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez also produces plenty of cards - averaging 5.22 yellows per game so far this season.

This match should be competitive too. Cadiz sit only a point above the relegation zone, while Mallorca still have plenty to play for. They lie is a funny position - not yet safe but also still eyeing Europe.

The likelihood is they will finish mid-table but a seriously good run from here could reap rewards, while a really bad one could spell trouble. In short, they should be up for this.

Cards therefore appeal here.

Sadly, the market has cottoned on with over 6.5 cards odds-on. However, that's a scenario which pushes me towards the player-card market where you can often find a spot of value.

As you can probably imagine, quite a few of the protagonists are short - no fewer than eight are odds-on for a card - yet the value is there if you look hard enough.

And it lies in the shape of Cadiz wideman Ruben Sobrino, who is set to return from suspension for this one.

He was banned last week having picked up his 10th card of the season (in 23 starts). It was also his fifth in his last eight appearances.

Sobrino looks the standout price in the market at 11/4.

He can play on either wing but has most recently been on the left and that sets him up nicely for a likely battle with Mallorca right-back Pablo Maffeo.

Maffeo is very much a modern full-back who likes to raid forward so Sobrino will need to be doing some chasing back.

And, averaging 1.6 fouls per game, it's not hard to see him attracting the ref's attention.

At the same time, Maffeo will need to be wary of Sobrino and I'm going to use the full-back to bump up the price a bit.

Maffeo has produced a foul in eight of his last 11 starts and is 8/11 for another here.

That looks a decent price and one which when put together with the Sobrino card, produces a Bet Builder of just under 5/1.
