Fresh from a 10/1 winner on Saturday, our football props column has a low-cards angle for the final day of the Premier League season..

  • Nothing at stake at Stamford Bridge

  • Ref has failed to produce a card in 4 of 16 PL games

  • No cards on offer at 18/1

The final day of the Premier League season often brings some unusual circumstances.

There's often little at stake in many games and that's definitely the case this year with five of the matches having nothing really resting on them. Does it really mater if you finish 11th or 12th?

No cards looks decent value

One of my long-standing approaches to this final day has been to try to find 'dead' games which may well feature few - or even no - cards.

This year, Southampton v Liverpool and Brentford v Manchester City both fit the bill - the latter features two of the three cleanest teams in the league in terms of discipline.

However, the value in the market looks to fall on Stamford Bridge where Chelsea, already guaranteed to finish in the bottom half for the first time since 1996, host a Newcastle side who booked their place next season's Champions League last Monday.

The two teams both sit in mid-table when it comes to the fair-play standings.

Crucially, there's also a lenient referee in charge - only one official has a lower cards-per-game figure than Jarred Gillett's 2.94.

And, even better, when you look into the details of Gillett's season, you find he's had no fewer than four cardless games in his 16 Premier League appointments.

Take 7/5 safety net

A 25% strike rate for the no-cards bet is already great but throw in the final-day 'dead game' scenario and getting 18/119.00 about a repeat looks too good to miss.

Obviously it's a bet which can easily go wrong so I'm inclined to split stakes between no cards and under 2.5 cards which is available at 7/52.40.

Back both teams under 0.5 cards @ around

18/1
