Bodo Glimt v KI
Wednesday 06 July, 17:00
Things warmed up nicely for us in Iceland last night, as our pick Afturelding not only avoided defeat like we asked them to, but actually took all three points in a 2-1 victory over Kordrengir. That means we've nailed a week's worth of consecutive winners, so let's keep pushing on.
We won't go very far for this evening's pick, because we are heading to Norway for Bodo Glimt's Champions League qualifier against Faroese champions and table-toppers KI.
Bodo have won the Eliteserien title in each of the last two seasons, and last term they beat eventual Conference League winners Roma twice in that competition. However, after losing key players, Bodo Glimt aren't quite in the same shape. They are 11 points adrift of surprise leaders Lillestrom, and surprisingly they have leaked 17 goals across their first 12 league matches. On home soil, Kjetil Knutsen's side has won just one of the last five and kept just one clean sheet.
KI (or Klaksvikar Itrottarfelag) have been champions of the Faroes in 2019 and 2021, and they are six points clear at the top. It's hard to judge how they will deal with the step up here, but they have scored 43 goals across just 15 league matches, so this is a team that is used to scoring goals and winning games. They will probably fall short in the end here, but I think they can score, so I'll back Both Teams To Score at a hefty 2.89/5.
