We got our stake back in Spain last night, as our boys Cartagena took an early lead at Lugo, but ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw, as two players were sent off in an ill-tempered affair. We'll take our funds and reinvest them in Germany, because there's an in-form striker trading at a big price to score in the Bundesliga game between Bochum and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Marcus Thuram is out of contract at the end of the season, and whether he is cynically upping his game to attract admirers in the market or just genuinely having a good season under a coach he trusts, the results have been impressive. The French international has scored nine Bundesliga goals already this term, and new boss Daniel Farke has put him front-and-centre of his attack, rather than using him in wide areas as his predecessors did.
As a result, Thuram is getting into really good scoring areas, and he found the net once again in Friday's 3-1 win over Stuttgart. Thuram has had a league-high 49 shots, with the vast majority of those inside the box. He has a personal xG of 8.2, far and away the highest number on his team, and he is outperforming that figure.
I actually think Bochum might get something out of this game, as they have recently picked up home wins against Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Berlin, but in a way the match's result isn't really relevant here. Bochum have the worst defence in the league - they have leaked a league-high 35 goals, keeper Manuel Riemann has additionally been forced into a league-high 58 saves, and the opposition have hit the woodwork 13 times.
I think Thuram will get chances to score here, so I'll gleefully back him to score at 2.767/4.
