We knew Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would catch the eye for Marseille at Metz last night, but although he got an assist in a 2-2 draw, the former Arsenal forward failed to score. It's been that type of week, but we press on.
We're looking for goals in Germany this afternoon, because Bayer Leverkusen are up against RB Leipzig, and I don't expect defences to dominate.
Leipzig made the perfect start to their season last Saturday, as they romped to a 3-0 victory against Bayern in Munich in the DFL Supercup. Dani Olmo scored a superb hat-trick, with his second goal an early contender for goal of the season.
Although Die Roten Bullen have overseen a huge exodus of talent this summer, with Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai, Konrad Laimer and Josko Gvardiol all leaving, there have been exciting signings like Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, Lens goal-getter Lois Openda and Lyon centre-back Castello Lukeba.
Bayer Leverkusen lost wing wizard Moussa Diaby to Aston Villa, but the acquisition of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface is exciting, while Florian Wirtz remains one of the best number 10's in the league. Coach Xabi Alonso has done a terrific job since taking the reins up from Gerardo Seoane, and Die Werkself can legitimately aim for the Champions League spots. The signing of former Arsenal midfield Granit Xhaka has given the club a boost.
Both teams have scored in five of these clubs' last nine meetings, and I believe we'll see a humdinger at the BayArena. Both teams have looked super-sharp in attack in pre-season and in their respective cup games (while Leipzig were winning 3-0 at Bayern, Leverkusen were winning 8-0 against Teutonia in the DFB Pokal), and I think they can put on a show.
You can use the Sportsbook's Bet Builder to back BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals at 1.84/5, and I think that's a fair price. It's paid out in 14 of Leipzig's last 25 league games, and 12 of Bayer's last 25.
