A Catalan kick in the teeth last night, as Girona did us proud with a 3-0 win over Alaves, Artem Dovbyk scored twice, but we fell two corners short. Infuriating, but the corners elements land more than they don't, so sometimes you just have to take a punch. We'll stay in Spain, because Atletico Madrid hope to maintain their incredible run of home victories, as they face Getafe.
Atleti have racked up 20 straight home victories in all competitions, a run that stretches back all the way to February. It's a sequence that has seen them qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners, and compete at the top end of La Liga. The weekend's defeat at Athletic Club did Diego Simeone's men no favours in the title race, but they'll fancy their chances here against Getafe.
With Jose Bordalas back at the helm, Getafe are quite happy to be the pantomime villains of La Liga, and it's working. They have risen to eighth in La Liga, and have won four of their last six league matches. They have only suffered one defeat in the last 11 games in the top flight, and at the weekend they won 3-0 at Sevilla.
However, the away form isn't that sparkly. Getafe have lost eight of their last 15 away matches in La Liga, and this term they have lost away to the top sides, suffering defeats at Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Girona. Last season, Atleti took four points off Getafe, and Los Colchoneros look a far better side this term.
I'll use the Bet Builder to back Atleti to win, 5 or more cards (Getafe have the worst disciplinary record in the league, with 63 yellows and six reds) and Antoine Griezmann to score or assist (the French international has 14 goals and two assists across the league and Champions League). That gives us a combined price of 2/13.00.
