Visitors too short for the win
Afturelding v Kordrengir
Tuesday 05 July, 20:15
Our Argentinean friends did the trick for us last night, as Estudiantes' 2-1 defeat at Arsenal de Sarandi landed our BTTS bet inside 40 minutes. Now we'll head for the intriguing football outpost that is Iceland. The national team isn't what it once was, but the domestic game is often full of intrigue and goals. We'll take in a second-tier clash between Afturelding and Kordrengir.
These two played each other in the Icelandic Cup last month, and it went to extra time before Kordrengir finally found a way to edge a 2-1 victory. That was in the capital Reykjavik, but this game will be played at Afturelding's home in Mosfellsbaer, 12 kilometres east of the capital.
Afturelding had a poor start to the campaign, but they have picked up since, losing just once of their last five league matches. They have taken seven points from the last three outings, drawing with Fylkir, hammering Thor (sorry) and winning 1-0 at Throttur. On home soil, they have only lost three of their last 14 league matches.
Kordrengir were only founded five years ago, and they have climbed up from the fifth tier. They finished fourth in the 1.Deild last season, but this term they have taken a modest 13 points from nine games. On the road, the capital club are yet to win this season, claiming just two points from their four away matches.
The visitors are the firm favourites to win this, but there is little in the clubs' form to rubber-stamp that theory. I'm happy to back the hosts in the Double Chance market at 1.845/6, which means we get a winner if Afturelding avoid defeat.
