Premier League Matchday 8 Opta Stats and Tips

Ipswich v Nottm Forest - Back Tractor Boys to roll over Tricky Trees

Friday 23 October, 20:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Ipswich Town have won two of their three Premier League home games this season (L1), as many as in their previous 25 at Portman Road (D6 L17). They're looking to win consecutive top-flight home games for the first time since a run of four in December/January 2001-02.

Nottingham Forest have lost their last three Premier League games, more than they had in their previous 14 (W5 D7 L2). Forest have also failed to score in four different Premier League games this season, with no side drawing a blank more often.

Betfair Bet: Back Ipswich to win to nil @ 5/16.00

Aston Villa v Man City - Back Manzambi as hosts end leaders' run

Saturday 24 October, 12:30, Live on TNT

The Opta Stat: Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last three Premier League home games against sides starting the day top of the table, beating Arsenal 1-0 in December 2023 and 2-1 in December 2025, and drawing 2-2 with Liverpool in February 2025.

Johan Manzambi has been involved in a goal in each of his three Premier League starts, scoring two and assisting two. No Aston Villa player has ever had a goal involvement in each of their first four starts in the competition before.

Betfair Bet: Back Villa Double Chance and Manzambi to score or assist @ 17/54.40

Arsenal v Everton - Back Gunners to seal victory in second-half

Saturday 24 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Everton have conceded fewer first half goals than any other side in the Premier League this season (1). Meanwhile, each of Arsenal's last six goals in the competition have come after half-time.

Betfair Bet: Back Draw/Arsenal @ 16/54.20

Coventry v Fulham - Back Sky Blues double

Saturday 24 October, 15:00

The Opta Stat: Fulham picked up their first Premier League win of the season against Hull last time out. However, the Cottagers are winless in their last eight away league games, alternating between a draw (4) and defeat (4) each time.

Betfair Bet: Back Coventry Double Chance and Thomas-Asante assist @ 11/26.50

Chelsea v Tottenham - Back Palmer and Rogers double

Saturday 24 October, 17:30, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Cole Palmer has been involved in five goals in his five Premier League appearances against Spurs (3 goals, 2 assists). His next goal will be his 50th in the competition, and he'd be third-fastest Chelsea player to the milestone with a goal in this match (104 games).

Chelsea's Morgan Rogers has been involved in six goals in six games against Tottenham (4 goals, 2 assists), all while an Aston Villa player. Since the 2024-25 season, only Eberechi Eze has more goals
against Spurs in all competitions (7).

Crystal Palace v Newcastle - Back Eagles and BTTS

Sunday 25 October, 14:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Crystal Palace have conceded at least twice in 11 of their last 13 Premier League games, with the exceptions being a 0-0 draw with Leeds and a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest. The previous 11 times they've conceded at least twice came over a period of 36 matches.

Newcastle have lost 4-1 at Leeds and 4-1 at Coventry in their last two Premier League away games. Only between January and March 2008 have they lost more consecutive away games by 3+ goals in the competition (4).

Betfair Bet: Back Palace Double Chance and BTTS @ 1/12.00

Hull v Brentford - Back Thiago to strike

Sunday 25 October, 14:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Brentford's Igor Thiago has six goals in his last six Premier League appearances against newly promoted clubs, while in the last two seasons, only four players have more goals and assists combined than he does in the Premier League (23 goals, 2 assists).

Betfair Bet: Back Thiago to score @ 1/12.00

Liverpool v Brighton - Back Kostoulas to extend ace run

Sunday 25 October, 14:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Brighton's Charalampos Kostoulas has scored and assisted in two of his last three Premier League appearances. He's the first teenager to do so more than once in a season since Kelechi Iheanacho for Man City in 2016-17, while the last teenager to achieve it three times in one campaign was Michael Owen in 1998-99.

Betfair Bet: Back Kostoulas to score @ 15/82.88

Man Utd v Bournemouth - Back Cherries to sour Reds' afternoon

Sunday 25 October, 14:00, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Manchester United won nine of their first 12 Premier League matches against Bournemouth (D1 L2), but they are winless in six against the Cherries since then (D4 L2).

Bryan Mbeumo has scored six goals in his last nine Premier League appearances for Man Utd, having gone 11 without a goal beforehand.

Betfair Bet: Back Bournemouth Double Chance and Mbeumo to score @ 5/16.00

Sunderland v Leeds - Back DCL to score again

Sunday 25 October, 16:30, Live on Sky Sports

The Opta Stat: Since November 29th last year, only Erling Haaland (21) has more Premier League goals than Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin (17), while the Englishman has the best conversion rate of the 52 players to have 40+ shots in that time (24.6%).
