The Premier League was launched in 1992 and replaced the Football League First Division at the time.

It is one of the most recognisable leagues in the world and is also a very popular betting event in terms of the outright market and individual fixtures.
Premier League odds are offered at the start of each season and throughout the duration of the campaign. After each round of fixtures, the prices are updated accordingly following the results from the 10 respective games.
The first ever winners of the Premier League were Manchester United in the 1992/1993 campaign. They have since dominated the competition, winning 13 of the 21 championships.
In 1995, Blackburn rewarded backers of the side in the Premier League odds as they lifted the trophy unexpectedly. Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton formed a formidable partnership that season which helped Rovers finish top of the table after 38 games.
Arsenal were able to break Manchester United's run of two victories in 1998 by winning their first Premier League title. The reds were favourites in the Premier League odds at the start of the season but Arsene Wenger was able to mastermind a winning side from North London to get the better of them.
In 2012, Manchester City won the league in dramatic circumstances as they scored in the last minute of their home tie against QPR in the final game of the season to win the trophy. During in-play odds, they had drifted out when they went 2-1 down against Mark Hughes's side. However, Sergio Aguero's last minute winner ensured they finished above Manchester United on goal difference.
Odds are also available each season in the Premier League on relegation. Three teams lose their spot in the league at the end of the campaign and have to move down to the Championship.
During the first Premier League season, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest all lost their places due to finishing with the least number of points after their fixtures.
In 1996, Manchester City were relegated out of the Premier League despite having relatively large odds to go down at the start of the season. They did later return and are now one of the prominent teams at the top end of the betting each year.
Newcastle were also one of the teams to finish in the bottom three in 2009. They lasted just one season on the Championship though, as they returned as division winners the following year.
