Hulk

Born Givanildo Vieira de Souza, but better known as Hulk, the powerful Brazilian forward currently plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Russian Premier League after making his name in Portugal with Porto. Able to play on the wing or as a striker, Hulk established himself as one of European football's most highly rated players during his time with Porto and now Zenit, gaining popularity for his work-rate and attacking prowess.

After starting out professionally with Vitória in Brazil, Hulk made the somewhat surprising move to Japan on loan to play for Kawasaki Frontale. A permanent move to the Japanese club followed in 2006 before the Brazilian was loaned out to second division Consadole Sapporo, where the striker scored 25 goals in 38 appearances for the club. Another loan followed the following season, this time to Tokyo Verdy, where Hulk produced an even better season in terms of goalscoring, racking up 37 goals in just 42 games before signing for the club on a permanent deal.

Following three years in Japan, Hulk signed for defending Primeira League champions Porto in 2008. During his time with the Portuguese giants, Hulk won ten major titles, including the 2011 Europa League and three league titles, finishing as the league's top scorer in the 2010/2011 season.

Hulk's achievements in Portugal convinced ambitious Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg to shell out a reported £34 million to secure his services in September 2012, beating a host of European clubs to secure the forward's signature.

Following an impressive debut season with Porto, Hulk made his Brazil debut in November of 2009 in a 1-0 friendly victory against England in Qatar. But despite his prolific club record for Porto, the forward had to wait until May of 2012 before scoring his first international goals, scoring twice in the 3-1 win over Denmark.

In the summer of 2012, Hulk was one of three overage players selected in Mano Menezes's Brazilian squad for the Summer Olympics in London, appearing in all but one of Brazil's games during the tournament and netting in the 1-2 final loss against Mexico, as the team collected the silver medal.

A year later, Hulk represented Brazil at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, playing in every match as Brazil beat world champions Spain to win their fourth Confederations Cup title and give the upcoming World Cup hosts a real confidence boost ahead of the summer's tournament.
