Frank Lampard was born on 20th June 1978 in Romford, London. Lampard was born into a footballing family, giving an early indication of where his future career might lie. His father is Frank Lampard Senior, the former West Ham United player and assistant manager. His uncle is QPR manager Harry Redknapp and his cousin is former Liverpool and England midfielder Jamie Redknapp.

With his links to West Ham, it was no real surprise when Lampard joined the club's youth team in 1994. After spending a brief loan spell at Swansea in 1995, Lampard returned to Upton Park after nine games for the Welsh club and broke into the first-team at West Ham the following season under then manager Redknapp. He established himself as a key part of the team during an impressive 1997-1998 season.
Going on to make nearly 150 appearances for the Hammers, Lampard was one of a number of talented West Ham youngsters to be sold by the club around the same time, the English midfielder joining Chelsea for a reported £11million in 2001.
It didn't take long for Lampard to establish himself as an important part of the Chelsea team, and the midfielder has never looked back since signing for the club. Despite a modest scoring record prior to his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Lampard soon became something of prolific goalscorer at the west London club, reaching double figures as Chelsea recorded back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006, the Blues also achieving a domestic Cup double the following year.
Adding a second FA Cup winners' medal to his collection in 2009 after scoring the winning goal in the final, Lampard helped Chelsea secure their first league and FA Cup double in a sensational season in which he weighed in with 27 goals in all competitions. In 2012 Lampard led Chelsea to their first UEFA Champions League success in John Terry's absence and a year later to the club's first UEFA Europa League title.
Lampard has been labelled as one of the best goalscoring midfielders of his generation, and the records certainly support his case. Lampard is the club's all-time top goalscorer with 208 goals in all competitions, one of only seven players to have scored 150 or more goals in the Premier League, and the first midfielder to achieve the feat.
After making his international debut in 1999, Lampard has gone on to win more than 100 caps for his country, scoring 29 international goals, and he has twice been voted England's Player of the Year.
