Champs aren't bulletproof
Club Brugge v Kortrijk
Friday 15 October, 19:45
We suffered a back-breaker in Brazil last night, as Sport Recife's winning streak came to an end with a 1-0 defeat at Cuiaba. In the words of the great Taylor Swift, we shake it off and move on.
We're off to Belgium, because the champions are in action against Kortrijk in the Pro League, and I suspect we could see both teams find the net.
Club Brugge are playing early in the weekend because they have a huge game coming up against Manchester City in the Champions League. Philippe Clement's side have made a superb start to the UCL, holding PSG to a 1-1 draw before winning 2-1 at RB Leipzig. Given that they are in what many people dubbed as a group of death, the Blauw-Zwart are showing encouraging signs of life.
However, Clement's men have been far from watertight at the back. They have kept four clean sheets in ten league matches, and have conceded 13 goals, including six in a 6-1 hammering at Gent. If you look at their games in all competitions, seven of the last ten have seen both teams find the net.
Kortrijk are also pretty lively. Their last two games in the Pro League have ended 2-2, and they have scored at least once in their last six league outings. If you go back further, you see they have netted in 18 of their last 20 games at this level.
Club Brugge may be a little distracted by what's on the horizon, and I'll back Both Teams To Score here at 2.166/5 on the Exchange.
