These old rivals will be meeting for the 39th time in all internationals. The Germans hold the upper-hand at the moment, having won 14 to Netherlands' 10 (14 draws).
The Dutch hold the advantage in previous European Championship clashes, however, winning two (1988 and 1992), drawing one (2004) and losing one (1980).

This clash brings the best two goalscorers from the qualifying round up against each other. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (of German side Schalke) scored 12 goals for the Dutch, Germany's Miroslav Klose bagged nine. However, both strikers only came off the bench in their country's first game.
Huntelaar is not the only Dutchmen plying his trade in the Bundesliga, additionally there is Khalid Boulahrouz (Stuttgart) and Arjen Robben (Bayern). Former Bundesliga players are Rafael van der Vaart, Nigel de Jong, Joris Mathijsen (all Hamburg) and Mark van Bommel (Bayern).
