League One tips and predictions
Notts County have lost their last two league games, both without scoring. That will place some apprehension in them ahead of a tricky game against ball-playing Oxford.
The hosts haven't lost three in a row since a run of five in February and March 2024, while they haven't lost three on the trot without finding the net in the EFL since November 2016. The two defeats, however, were tricky games against Bradford (0-1) and Reading (0-2).
With four draws this term already and a trio of 1-1s, I can see that sort of game playing out here and the draw at 5/23.50 comes strongly into my reckoning. Against the better teams this term - ie Leicester, Luton and Huddersfield - County have basically surrendered possession. A similar scenario is forecast.
KEY OPTA STAT: Oxford United have won five of their last six Football League games against Notts County (D1), scoring 3+ goals in each of their last three victories.
Cambridge have been a good source for BTTS backers so far. In all of their games across all competitions just once has either side failed to score.
The BTTS bet was obviously considered as Blackpool have an identical record - in all games just once has one team failed to score.
However, I am getting bad vibes how Blackpool are playing under Ian Evatt. I put them up as a tip against Bromley who were dreadful prior to the 2-2 and since then conceded four at home to Plymouth.
Evatt said the Reading loss earlier in the season was a low point, but there have been a few already and Cambridge look a solid evens bet.
KEY OPTA STAT: Cambridge United have lost just four of their last 40 league games (W19 D17), the fewest of any ever-present EFL side since the start of November 2025.
The BTTS angle continue as Huddersfield usually provide good value in terms of goal output. With a home xG of 1.90, that's one of the best in the division. Wednesday are 1.52 and 1.55 away for xG and xA respectively and this points to an early goals bet.
In three away games so far, the Owls have won all three 1-2 smashed seven past a pitiful Bromley at home.
The 13/53.60 for first half BTTS is too attractive to turn away.
KEY OPTA STAT: Sheffield Wednesday have won all three of their away League One matches this season, with Ipswich in 2022-23 the last side to win their first four on the road in League One. The Owls have only won their first four away league games in one season, doing so in 1990-91.

League Two tips and predictions
Crawley's four points from just seven games is a disastrous start and, while opposing manager's are saying to Colin Kazim-Richards his team played well despite losing, being booed off against Cheltenham was not exactly a ringing endorsement.
Chesterfield have already scored 15 times this season and are one of only three in double figures at home.
Apart from their opening day loss to Fleetwood, Paul Cook's team have scored in every League Two game and are unbeaten in their three away league games against Crawley Town (W1 D2), including a 1-1 draw in this exact fixture last season. That would be a nice result for a BTTS bet again.
KEY OPTA STAT: Chesterfield have lost two of their last three away games in the Football League (W1), as many defeats as across their previous 18 league games on the road combined.
Swindon boss Ian Holloway has produced some rather good press conferences, but his latest "dead man walking" one was a personal favourite. The fans are not with him it seems and they haven't won a game since 5th September.
A worrying sign for Swindon is the xA at 1.77, which far outweighs any other metric and I'd be amazed if Crewe can't score here.
The Alex are enjoying a good start in third this season with some excellent home wins. However, goals have been in short supply away, both for and against and all four games have been Under 2.5 Goals.
Not a great start for a BTTS bet, but two games were 1-1 and their last six games home and away have all meant success for BTTS backers.
KEY OPTA STAT: Swindon Town have won just one of their last eight league games against Crewe Alexandra (D3 L4), a 3-0 win in August 2025.
Tranmere conceded four at Chesterfield last weekend and the alarming habit of conceding a late goal reared its head again. Three goals shipped in from 83 minutes on that occasion and it was the third time they let a lead slip late on.
Rochdale at least have stemmed the losses from a poor start and arrive unbeaten in four, including a 0-0 away to Walsall in a match they recorded under 30% possession.
With a lack of invention again their xG of 1.00 away from home needs to be improved and I am finding these teams hard to split.
Tranmere are unbeaten across their last five home league games (W2 D3), last enjoying a longer run between February and April 2022 (nine games), but tapping into that draw column with three stalemates is the bet I like to boost the treble with two other short prices.
KEY OPTA STAT: Rochdale have lost just two of their last 10 league meetings with Tranmere Rovers (W4 D4), drawing both games against the Rovers the last time that they met in 2022-23.
