Arsenal v Leeds Tip - Back Gunners versus Trafford

Live on TNT Sports

Arsenal suffered a humbling 3-0 defeat at Brighton last time out, a win which was much deserved for the Seagulls as they swarmed all over the Gunners. Despite this, Arsenal have still started the season well with four wins out of five, keeping a clean sheet in three of those victories.

Leeds have also had a great start to the season, unbeaten in five. This has no doubt been massively helped by the signing of James Trafford with Leeds possessing the joint best defence in the league having conceded just three goals.

However, this is their first real test as they have yet to face any of last season's top seven and Trafford is doing plenty of heavy lifting with the best save percentage in the league (87%), although this is the result of having to make the most saves in the league (20) owing to Leeds facing plenty of shots.

Arsenal are 1/31.33 here but we can increase that to 1/12.00 by backing Under 3.5 goals alongside it. Trafford can make the game competitive but class will eventually tell for the Champions. All four of Arsenal's victories have come in this fashion and they began last season with 11 of their first 13 victories finishing with less than four goals.

Aston Villa v Brentford Tip - Back the Bees at the odds

Brentford have also made a great start. Unbeaten, they convincingly took apart both Chelsea and Tottenham winning both 3-0. Villa have once again started slowly with just one win so far but perhaps understandably so given the significant summer turnover as they lost the spine of their side in Watkins, Rogers, Tielemans, Konsa and Martinez. Unai Emery rightly deserves time for all of their replacements to adapt and gel but the betting markets are not prepared to wait. In all five Premier League games, Villa have significantly drifted from their opening odds - at Spurs, they opened at 19/102.90 but went off at 29/103.90. Conversely, when Brentford hosted Spurs, the Bees were backed in from 6/42.50 to odds-on and given they are only narrow favourites at Villa Park at 6/42.50, there's a feeling this might shorten for a side that are far more settled and arguably better right now.

I'll back the Bees draw no bet meaning stakes returned if it's a stalemate.

Chelsea v Bournemouth Tip - Back goals, goals, goals

Mid-table and the worst defence in the league - not what many would have expected from Xabi Alonso's Chelsea after five games! They've conceded two or more goals in every game and that includes games against Hull and Fulham. Bournemouth are yet to win a game but it's been a tough schedule with both Man City and Liverpool, and they're the only two they've lost, both narrow one-goal defeats. They won away at Real Sociedad in Europe and despite being 17th, expected points has them eighth in the table.

I don't want to back Chelsea at 4/61.67 but I'm not sure I want to side with Bournemouth with the big injury loss of Alex Scott and doubts over Justin Kluivert. Instead, let's side with goals by backing Over 3.0 Asian goals on the Betfair Exchange, stakes returned if it finishes on three goals but four or more providing a winner. All five of Chelsea's games have seen Over 2.5 goals and both teams have scored in four of their games for both sides. The last two meetings at Stamford Bridge finished 2-2.

Ipswich v Fulham Tip - Back fouls a plenty at Portman Road

Struggling to call this game so it's a Bet Builder for me at nearly double-figure odds. I'll start with Ipswich's star man in Julio Enciso who's lit up the Tractor Boys season so far and the opposition have clearly taken note. He's their most fouled player, being fouled two or more times in four of his five games. Going the other way, new signing Sasa Lukic is helping to break up the play by committing the joint most second fouls in the league, making three or more in three of his last four games. Coming up against his old club Fulham, I could see him wanting to prove a point and getting stuck in.

For the Cottagers, full-back Timothy Castagne is now the wrong side of 30 and has committed over 1.5 fouls in four of his five appearances and will have to contend with Enciso at times who likes to drift out wide and the runs from left-back of Leif Davis who has been a threat this season having already scored two goals.

Sunderland v Brighton Tip - Back Seagulls...with security

Brighton's fantastic 3-0 victory over Arsenal last time has them sat third in the table. They've scored the most goals in the league with 16 and it's fully deserved averaging 19.0 shots per-game and the most expected goals with 11.5xG. They are giving themselves a terrific platform to perform as they have been averaging the most possession in the league with 64.7%.

Sunderland meanwhile have only won one game and sit just a point above the drop even at this early stage. They have, however, had to face both Arsenal and Man City. It will be interesting to see how they cope this season with the addition of European football and are currently 5/16.00 to be relegated.

Given Brighton's attack is on fire and they've already kept three clean sheets at the other end, it's unsurprising I want to side with them. The Seagulls can be backed on the Asian Handicap +0.0 (essentially draw no bet) at 1.774/5 which means the security of money back if it finishes all square.

Man Utd v Tottenham Tip - Back Utd not to win

Live on Sky Sports

If the pressure was on Roberto de Zerbi, it looks like it's slowly creeping onto Michael Carrick too as we approach Halloween. Just one win this season and that was against newly promoted Ipswich who not only took the lead but got on the scoresheet twice. At 4/61.67 Man Utd are too short to back. Yes, Tottenham are winless but performances have begun to improve (so they should after £300M+ on investment over the summer). Spurs are 17/45.25 suggesting they are big outsiders but they are actually averaging the third most possession in the league at 60.7% so there will be periods where they'll have the ball and can hurt Utd.

The Red Devils are back in the Champions League and travel to Spain to face Atletico next Tuesday. Carrick may have an eye on that after a hectic international break and this being a Saturday night game. There are enough reasons to avoid Utd, especially at short odds. Spurs are odds-against with a one goal handicap in their favour. That'll do.
