Alan Dudman previews a big weekend in the EFL and has six tips for Saturday's action...

League One

Leg 1: Cambridge United v Peterborough United, Saturday 12:00: Back Peterborough

Peterborough are in danger of losing grip on their automatic promotion chances and are currently in a horror run of four straight losses. It's happened to Portsmouth, and its now happening to Posh.

However amongst the gloom they booked their Wembley place in midweek with an EFL Trophy win and it's a perfect time to remedy their recent poor run with a big derby against Cambridge on Saturday - and Cambridge recently were deserted by Neil Harris who has gone back to Millwall.

The U's have won just one of their last nine Football League games against Peterborough (D3 L5), though that sole victory did come in their last home meeting at Abbey Stadium in April 2023 (2-0).

The Posh hammered Cambridge earlier in the season 5-0, and while they have looked tired and leggy recently, the hosts don't score many at home and the Evens on the visitors looks a fair price.

KEY OPTA STAT: Cambridge have lost their last two home league games, last losing more consecutively in October 2022 (4).

Leg 2: Stevenage v Wycombe Wanderers, Saturday 15:00: Back Stevenage

Stevenage will be looking to record a first ever Football League double over Wycombe Wanderers after winning the reverse fixture 1-0 in November 2023, and are 5/61.84 to do so.

Wycombe haven't really got going under Matt Bloomfield this season and in the lower reaches of the league, they are in danger of having nothing to play for - apart from their Wembley final thanks to a midweek win at Bradford.

The visitors have won just one of their last 10 away league games (D5 L4), keeping just one clean sheet in that time whilst failing to score in four separate matches, and that's a strong enough stat to oppose them here.

KEY OPTA STAT: Wycombe Wanderers have failed to win any of their last three away Football League games against Stevenage (D1 L2), after remaining unbeaten across their first three visits to the Lamex Stadium (W2 D1).

Back Stevenage @ 10/111.91

Leg 3: Oxford United v Leyton Orient, Saturday 15:00: Back the draw

Orient have been a good source of winners recently, and we've had a fair bit of success backing the draw with the O's this year, and this looks a game to take the stalemate at 9/43.25.

Oxford have won just one of their last eight Football League games against Leyton Orient (D3 L4), though that sole victory did come in the reverse fixture in November 2023 (3-2).

Orient have lost just one of their last six away Football League games against Oxford United (W3 D2), winning on each of their last two visits to the Kassam Stadium, so historically it's been a fixture that has thrown up the draw.

KEY OPTA STAT: Leyton Orient will be looking to avoid recording successive away league defeats for just the second time this season after losing 2-1 to Barnsley at Oakwell during their last match on the road.

Back the draw @ 9/43.25

League Two

Leg 1: Notts County v Crewe, Saturday 15:00: Back BTTS in First Half

Notts County have scored 37 at home and conceded 23, while Crewe have hit 28 on the road shipping in 23, so it's no surprise the BTTS bet and Over 2.5 Goals are both short.

So it might be worth chancing here on goals in the first half - and we can back the BTTS in 45 minutes at a generous 13/53.60.

Notts County have won just one of their last seven League Two games (D2 L4), failing to keep a clean sheet in any of those matches - and they've seemingly blown their chances of promotion despite the glut of goals.

KEY OPTA STAT: Crewe Alexandra are unbeaten across their last five away league games (W3 D2), last enjoying a longer such run between February and August 2012 (8 matches).

Back BTTS in First Half @ 13/53.60

Leg 2: Morecambe v Grimsby Town, Saturday 15:00: Back Morecambe

I recently selected Grimsby in the acca and they lost 1-5 at home to Doncaster - and if you are conceding five to Donny, you're in trouble.

The Mariners are now third from bottom and have won just once away all season, so this looks a game that Morecambe really ought to justify their price of 13/102.30, and that does look on the generous side.

Grimsby have won just one of their last 16 away league games (D7 L8), whilst in League Two this season, only Sutton United (7) have taken fewer points from their away matches than the Mariners (10).

KEY OPTA STAT: After losing their first home Football League game against Grimsby Town in March 2008, Morecambe have since lost just one of their last seven such matches against the Mariners (W2 D4).

Back Morecambe @ 13/102.30

Leg 3: Accrington Stanley v Crawley Town, Saturday 15:00: Back Accrington

Accrington Stanley have lost just one of their last six home league games (W3 D2), keeping a clean sheet in four of those matches, including the last two, so are in good shape for Saturday and can be backed at 6/52.20.

They took their chances well against AFC Wimbledon recently with a 2-0 win and are fairly solid at what they do.

Since winning four consecutive weekend games in League Two in September, Crawley have only won five of their last 13 matches played on a weekend in the competition (L8), and while they have won their last two, Accrington have won nine at home this term and their best xG figure is at home at 1.51.

KEY OPTA STAT: Crawley Town have won just one of their last three away Football League games against Accrington Stanley (L2) after taking a 1-0 victory on their first EFL visit to Wham Stadium in May 2012.

Back Accrington to win @ 23/202.15
