Stevenage v Wigan Athletic Tip - Back Stevenage and Over 1.5 Goals

Wigan's 0-1 loss last Saturday will see them waddle in down in the lower reaches of League One, and a loss to left Wimbledon to fight for another day in the division, and with nothing to play for with the Latics, Stevenage should justify their match odds.

The hosts are skinny as expected at 4/71.57 as a win ensures a play-off spot, but they need to win as Luton and Plymouth are a point and two points behind.

Excluding the curtailed 2019-20 season, Stevenage have won their final game in five of their last six league seasons (D1) since a 0-1 defeat to Wycombe in 2017-18, and backing them at home this term has been a route to riches with 13 victories - right on par with Bolton and Stockport.

Leyton Orient v Burton Albion Tip: Back BTTS 'Yes' @ 20/231.87

Orient have to one to avoid migrating to another world, and on form and general mood and atmosphere, you wouldn't go near them these days at a price of 3/41.75 as they haven't won in their last seven.

To think Orient were play-off finalists last term, yet this season they've been poor, conceded too many goals and had it not been for Dom Ballard would be going down.

The O's haven't scored a goal in three, but Burton have shipped 30 on the road this term and with this being a "win and stay up" match, they've got to go for it and cannot afford to be meek and passive.

AFC Wimbledon v Huddersfield Tip - Back AFC Wimbledon to win @ 9/52.80

Wimbledon's 0-1 win at Wigan kept them in the division and manager Johnnie Jackson described the feeling as better than Wembley.

Jackson made the right changes bringing in older and wiser heads for composure last week and now with the pressure off, we have two teams with nothing to play for and Huddersfield in town, who continue to disappoint.

AFC Wimbledon have won six of their last seven home league games against sides from Yorkshire (L1), conceding just three goals in total across those matches, so with that curious stat with us for Saturday I think the price of the hosts is more than fair at 9/52.80, in fact a little too big.

Harrogate v Barnet Tip - Back Over 3.5 Goals @ 15/82.88

Saturday 2nd May 15:00

My boys Barnet have been the one constant over the past two months and what run to be applauded - six wins from their last seven and a stream of constant goals.

I am just about over the fact I tipped Kabono Tshimanga for Anytime Scorer last week in Barnet's 6-2 demolition job against Gillingham only for the star striker not to score.

It's now 24 goals since late March for Dean Brennan's side who can still make the final playoff spot with a win, but they need to Chesterfield and Swindon above them to falter.

Harrogate have looked dead and buried for most the season but have a fighting chance of staying up with the bottom five and two down from 36 points to 40.

The hosts have scored in their last five and with Barnet's super xG of 1.56 away from home we go for goals, and I didn't even mention that Callum Stead scored five last Saturday.

Swindon Town v Chesterfield Tip - Back BTTS 'Yes' @ 8/111.73

Saturday 2nd May 15:00

Swindon are looking to complete their first league double over Chesterfield since 2015-16, after winning this season's reverse clash 2-1 in November.

With goals in that game, that's the move into this with the BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals under consideration with preference for the former.

Swindon have netted 37 times at home this season, Chesterfield 31 away and conceded 31.

Ian Holloway's side also have a higher xA at 1.47 overall compared to their xG home and away of 1.34 and with just a point between the two for playoff football, this is massive game for both.

Gillingham v Shrewsbury Town Tip - Back Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/111.73

Saturday 2nd May 15:00

Gillingham and Shrewsbury has the makings of the worst game in the world - nothing to play for, two teams in 18th and 19th and lucky the five sides below them are even worse.

This is the Gareth Ainsworth derby - so there's some edge there with "Wild Thing" leaving the Shrews last term after just 133 days in charge.

With their struggles, Gillingham have cancelled their end of season awards and Ainsworth insists he wants to fight on, but admitted he was embarrassed by last weekend's 6-2 loss.

Shrewsbury have failed to score in each of their last three league visits to Gillingham, although the last two have ended goalless and have scored just 20 times from 22 away game this term so am happy playing a match of few goals.
