David Silva is a footballer who currently plays for Manchester City in the Premier League and the Spanish national team. Capable of playing in attack or midfield, Silva has been a key member of the Spain squad that has won three consecutive tournaments, winning the European Championships in 2008 and 2012 as well as the 2010 World Cup.

Born on 8th January 1986, in Gran Canaria, Silva signed for the Valencia youth team as a 14-year-old, coming through the ranks and breaking into the senior set-up in 2004. Silva was sent out on loan to the Segunda Division with SD Eibar for the 2004-2005 season, making 35 appearances in the Spanish second tier and scoring on five occasions. Another loan move followed in the 2005-2006 season, playing 34 matches and scoring four goals for Celta Vigo.
Silva returned to Valencia ahead of the 2006-2007 season, going on to establish himself as a key part of the first team despite being just 20-years-old. Over the course of two seasons, the forward missed just six matches and scored 14 goals to cement himself as an important member of the La Liga side's plans.
In August 2008, Valencia fought off interest from a number of European clubs by extending Silva's contract by five years and keeping the circling clubs at bay for a while longer. And Silva went some way to repaying the club by playing a critical role in the club going on to win the Copa del Rey in 2008, his first and only title with the team.
With Valencia's financial problems deepening, Manchester City finally broke the Spanish club's resolve with a reported £30million offer to sell them their star player, with Silva signing a four-year contract with the Premier League club. Making over 35 league appearances for City in his debut season, Silva wasted little time in establishing himself as a firm fans' favourite at the Etihad Stadium.
In his second season, the Spaniard took his performance up a level, playing an instrumental role in City going on to win their first top-flight title since 1967-1968, winning the club's Player of the Year award in the process before being named in the 2011-2012 Premier League Team of the Year.
Silva topped off 2012 by playing an important part in Spain's European Championships triumph in Poland and Ukraine that summer, picking up his third winners' medal at a major tournament with Spain.
