Darren Bent is an English footballer signed to Aston Villa in the Premier League, and currently playing for Fulham on loan. Over a career that started with Ipswich in 2001, Bent has established himself as one of the Premier League's most prolific strikers, racking up over £60million worth of transfer fees during that time.

Born in Tooting, London, in 1984, Bent made his first move into football by joining Ipwich's youth system in 1998. The young forward made his first team debut for the club on 1st November 2001 in a 3-1 victory against Helsingborgs IF in the UEFA Cup, scoring his first senior goal in a 4-1 League Cup defeat to Newcastle United on 27 November 2001 and his first Premier League goal in the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in April 2002.
Bent went on to make 122 appearances for Ipswich, scoring 48 goals in the league for the club before joining Charlton Athletic in a deal worth £2.5million in 2005. During his two years with The Addicks, Bent finished both seasons as the club's top scorer before Tottenham Hotspur paid a club record transfer of £16.5million to secure his services.
In a modest first season at White Hart Lane, the striker only managed to score eight goals in all competitions for the club, improving the following season by topping the club's goal charts with 17 before his next big-money move. Sunderland shelled out £10million (eventually £16million) to take the forward north in July of 2009, with Bent repaying the club by scoring 24 league goals in his debut season at the Stadium of Light.
Aston Villa smashed their transfer record by spending £18million, eventually rising to £24million, to sign the striker. Bent's time at Villa Park wasn't a complete success, however, and after three seasons of not reaching double figures in the Premier League, Bent was loaned out to Fulham for the 2013-2014 season.
After appearing for England at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels, Bent made his full debut for the senior England side in 2006 against Uruguay, scoring his first international goal on 7th September 2010 in a 3-1 UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying match win against Switzerland.
Bent has made 13 appearances for England so far in his career, scoring four goals during that time, and so far failing to appear at a major tournament.
