West Brom boast a formidable home record under Carlos Corberan

West Brom entertain Coventry in a crunch Championship clash on Friday night from The Hawthorns. Betfair writer Mark O'Haire is backing the Baggies to avoid defeat.

Darnell Furlong's header cancelled out Fabio Carvalho's fierce strike to earn West Brom 2.1411/10 a point away at Hull last week and keep the Baggies above their fellow Championship play-off chasers. The home side took the lead after an untidy first 30 minutes, but Albion responded immediately after the interval, making the most of a set-piece situation.

Chances were limited in the second half until a frantic finish, which saw both sides denied by the woodwork. WBA substitute Adam Reach was a fraction away from a winner with a measured curling effort, whilst Jed Wallace had been denied by the post earlier in the encounter, the Baggies' first fixture since a takeover by American businessman Shilen Patel.

Wallace started as a lone frontman against Hull with injuries keeping Brandon Thomas-Asante, Josh Maja and Daryl Dike out. However, West Brom chief Carlos Corberan suggested he won't be the main striker going forward with Andi Weimann the most likely option in attack with loanee Callum Marshall still trying to break into the side after his January arrival.

Coventry 3.6013/5 manager Mark Robins apologised to the media for what he labelled a 'spot on' performance from his players as they enjoyed a comfortable 5-0 victory over non-league heroes Maidstone United on Monday night. The Sky Blues bounced back from their own humbling 3-0 reverse against Preston on Friday to book a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Sky Blues showed their Championship class and killed the sixth-tier side's dream of pulling off another giant-killing with an Ellis Simms hat-trick inside the first 35 minutes, before Fabio Tavares added two more at the death. After opening the scoring, Simms held up a shirt in support of team-mate Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, whose been ruled out long-term.

Robins rang the changes for the cup clash with Liam Kelly drafted back into the starting XI, one of six alterations following the Preston humbling. Joel Latibeaudiere, Liam Kitching, Jake Bidwell, Victor Torp, Kasey Palmer and Tavares all started at the CBS Arena with Callum O'Hare and Josh Dasvila rested. Ben Sheaf and Jamie Allen remain sidelined.

Keeping Albion onside

West Brom boast a formidable Championship record at The Hawthorns since Carlos Corberan took charge (W21-D6-L5). During that 32-game sample, Albion have recorded 19 (59%) clean sheets, whilst firing only five blanks of their own - this term alone, the Baggies are W11-D3-L3 on home soil, silencing nine (53%) sides and scoring in all bar three.

Averaging over 2.10 points per-game in front of their own supporters - over the short and long-term - West Brom's home record commands maximum respect. Albion have already tabled four triumphs from six here against top-eight opposition and should fancy their chances of enhancing that return considering Coventry are W0-D2-L4 at top-eight teams.

Nevertheless, the Sky Blues have suffered only three league losses in 19 since early November and so backing West Brom Double Chance is preferred. We can engineer an appealing [19/20] price by adding both Over 0.5 Goals and Under 3.5 Goals to the equation.

Just two of Coventry's clashes have concluded goalless, whilst only five of West Brom's 32 home fixtures under Corberan have escalated into a four-goal shootout (or more) with 75% of those showdowns featuring a goal range of 1-3. To simplify matters, a West Brom win via a 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 or 2-1 scoreline sees us paid-out, along with the 1-1 draw on Friday night.
