Sheffield United v Cardiff City: Is it too late now to back 4/1 Sory?

Sory Kaba is value to continue his scoring form, says George Elek

Not The Top 20's George Elek has a goalscorer angle in Saturday's early kick-off between Sheffield United and Cardiff City with stats suggesting Sory Kaba can keep scoring at 4/1.

  • Sheffield United without suspended goalkeeper Foderingham

  • First game of tough run in Cardiff survival bid

  • Sory Kaba has highest xG per 90 in Championship since February

Blades need to be sharp

Sheffield United still boast a five-point gap to Luton Town in 3rd with a game in hand, but will come into this game guarding against complacency to ensure that their promotion back to the Premier League can be concluded with minimal fuss, especially with the opportunity to register all three points before the Hatters kick-off at 3pm.

They come here off the back of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of soon-to-be-crowned champions Burnley, in a game that was a one-way affair after Blades 'keeper Wes Foderingham was sent off early in the contest.

He will be suspended here, with Adam Davies deputising in goal, but the Bramall Lane faithful will be in expectant mood against one of the division's struggling sides.

Cardiff hopes rest on saviour Sabri

If it wasn't for Reading's six-point deduction Cardiff City would currently be sitting in the Championship relegation zone, but thanks to the Royals' misdemeanours they are a point above the drop zone.

There have been some much improved performances since manager Sabri Lamouchi joined the club at the end of January, frustratingly one of which was at Rotherham in a game that was abandoned shortly after half-time due to a waterlogged pitch with Cardiff 1-0 to the good.

That game is set to be replayed at the end of April, and there is likely to be some serious anger should Cardiff lose that game and then see themselves relegated.

With tough trips to Sheffield United and Watford before a home game against he in-form Stoke before that rematch, Lamouchi has his work cut out to get Cardiff going into it clear of the drop.

Tough ask for wasteful Cardiff

Cardiff are the lowest scorers in the Championship this season (33 goals) and have the lowest shot conversion rate (7%).

Sheffield United have faced fewer shots on target than any other Championship side this term (117), with only Burnley (30) conceding fewer goals than the Blades (35).

They have won 25 of their 42 home league games since the start of last season (D8 L9), only Plymouth (31), Sheffield Wednesday (30) and Manchester City (27) have won more such games in the top four tiers of English football.

They've also won their last three league games against Cardiff, winning each match by a one-goal scoreline.

Sory not sorry

Despite Cardiff's recent struggles, they look to have unearthed a gem in January signing Sory Kaba, who has scored five goals since joining on loan from FC Midtjylland.

He comes here as the man in-form, with four goals in his last six and the underlying numbers suggest that this run of form might be sustainable.

Since the January transfer window closed, Kaba is averaging the highest xG per 90 in the whole division with 0.46 showing just how much of a regular goal threat he is despite playing for a side who don't create a great deal.

Sheffield United are understandably heavy favourites to win this, and that gives us a very appealing 4/1 that Kaba nets again in what is a huge game for his side.
