Unbeaten start for Milan
AC Milan come into their Group E clash with Red Bull Salzburg on a high, having triumphed against their biggest rivals over the weekend.
Stefano Pioli's side came from behind to win 3-2 in their derby against Inter over the weekend, with Rafael Leao grabbing two of the goals. This extended Milan's unbeaten start to the season (P5 W3 D2), with the Serie A champions second in the table behind Napoli on goal difference.
The good news for Red Bull Salzburg is that Milan's wins have all come at the San Siro, with their two away games being drawn. Salzburg have made a flying start to the season winning six of their seven league games (L1) to take an early lead in the Bundesliga.
Last season the Austrians made it through to the last-16 of the competition, but that looks like a tough ask this year, having been drawn into a group that also includes Chelsea. Matthias Jaissle has an extremely young group of players to work with, after the club once again lost a lot of talent in the summer to clubs in bigger leagues.
Salzburg home form must be considered
AC Milan are the favourites at 2.111/10, with a Red Bull Salzburg win at 3.5551/20 and the draw at 3.613/5.
It's quite a chunky price for the Serie A title holders, but it's worth taking a look at Salzburg's home form in the Champions League last season, before getting too excited. They won all three of their home games in the group stage, defeating Lille, Wolfsburg and Sevilla, before holding Bayern to a 1-1 draw in the home leg of their knockout tie.
Milan are the rightful favourites, but it would be unwise to underestimate Salzburg. Back the visitors in the double chance market and combine in a Bet Builder with both teams to score, to get odds of 2.01/1.
