Barca top of La Liga but third in Group C

Barcelona badly need victory when they host Inter in their fourth game in Group C.

The Spanish giants lost 1-0 at Inter last week, which followed a 2-0 away defeat at Bayern Munich. That leaves them in third place with just three points from their home victory over Viktoria Plzen, three points behind second placed Inter and six points behind the leaders Bayern.

Over the weekend Barcelona bounced back from that defeat at Inter with a 1-0 home win against Celta Vigo. That win saw Barcelona maintain their unbeaten start to the La Liga campaign (P8 W7 D1) and remain at the top of the table, ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference, with the two rivals set to meet in El Clasico this Sunday.

Inter followed their victory over Barcelona with a 2-1 win at Sassuolo. They are seventh in Serie A after an inconsistent start (P9 W5 L4).

Ignore result and go for low scoring game

Barcelona are the 1.454/9 favourites, with the draw at 5.14/1 and Inter 7.613/2.

That looks a little short for Barca. They were beaten 1-0 at Inter last week and their last two victories in La Liga, against modest opposition Mallorca and Celta Vigo, have only seen them win those games 1-0.

Inter winning their last two games casts further doubt on these set of odds, though it should be said that aside from against Barcelona, Simone Inzaghi's side have generally lost when they've faced decent teams this season.

Perhaps in this case it makes sense to ignore the result. Under 2.5 goals is 2.486/4, despite landing in four of Barcelona's last five games and in both of Inter's last two Champions League outings.
