Group C rivals battle for supremacy

The top two in Group C clash when Ajax host Borussia Dortmund, in what promises to be Tuesday's most exciting Champions League game.

Both teams have taken maximum points from their two fixtures. It's Ajax that currently top the group on goal difference, having enjoyed a heavy 5-1 victory against Sporting Lisbon in their opening game, which they followed with a 2-0 home win over Besiktas.

Ajax are top of the Eredivisie, leading second placed PSV by a point. Before the international break they lost their first game of the season, when they were beaten 1-0 by Utrecht, but bounced back at the weekend with a 2-0 win at Heerenveen.

Dortmund went temporarily top of the Bundesliga on Saturday, when they beat Mainz 3-1 (P8 W6 D0 L2). They received a major boost in the form of Erling Haaland's return to fitness and the Norwegian scored twice to take his tally to 13 in just nine games this season. One of those goals came in Dortmund's 2-1 win away at Besiktas, with the German giants then beating Sporting Lisbon 1-0.

Ajax are the favourites at 2.285/4, with Borussia Dortmund at 3.185/40 and the draw at 4.03/1.

With home advantage Ajax are the rightful favourites, but this looks very much like a match where no result would be a surprise. Goals look the certainty here, which is evidenced by the fact that both teams to score is just 1.511/2, while over 2.5 goals is similarly priced at 1.538/15.

There is value to be found when it comes to identify a goalscorer. With Dortmund the outsiders, Haaland's price of 1.84/5 looks artificially inflated.
